Sounds a lot like Tyson, who didn't have many late round stoppages. Tyson only had one late round stoppage in round 10 ( José Ribalta ). After that, his next latest stoppage happened in round 7.

You can say the same for Lewis, who never scored a stoppage past round 8, and that was a faded Tyson.

Sanders has 26 stoppages between rounds 1-3, that is the mark of a puncher.

As a long-time Sanders fan, I have to note that his career went through two phases. When he was younger he fancied himself more a boxer than a slugger - though he could always hit - and iirc there was a video floating around where he said he wanted to model himself after Ali. So, he was quite content to whitewash a guy with speed and footwork, especially early on. This kind of waters down his KO ratio.

Later it seems to me that he lost his flashy footwork and he seemed to decide that long fights were a waste of his time. You can see him waiting for the opponent to commit so that he could catch them with his counter-left. That was as hard a punch as can be, because he very often had the momentum of the opponent working in his favour. Nevertheless when he committed to his punches they were devastating. You can see him literally bounce guys like Sprott (who also said he was the hardest puncher he'd faced) and Billups off the ropes. It wasn't his physical musculature that made him hit so hard, it was more a combination of speed and timing.

I'd say that he was in the top tier of punchers, even though his KO % doesn't necessarily reflect it.

Of course Sanders could punch , but he's clearly not an Elite ATG level hitter like Mike Tyson etc

Hasim Rahman 30 stoppages between rounds 1-3 . Tommy Morrison has 35 stoppages in the first 3 rounds. I think Morrison hit a little harder than Sanders.

Don't obsesses over the messenger instead of the message like he does. A fanboy will always interpret factual counterpoints to his crazed fandom as hate speech. Time to change that diaper Doza and pick yourself up by the bootstraps , ok?

I was in fact, offering you help to take your game to the next level. I seldom wear boots, and stand tall in more ways then one, but thanks for the concern.

PS: Teddy Atlas would be proud of you.

Corrie Sander's doesn't have a single knockout more devastating or any more notable than Leotis Martin's bone chilling knockout over Sonny Liston, but lets start calling him an ATG.... something.

You can argue Wlad was as green as Liston was past prime in these respective knockout losses, and as I said, Sanders knockout isn't a mouse fart compared to the demo job kind of smelling salts knockout Martin delivered to Liston... My sole point is that you rarely ever even hear the name Leotis Martin among boxing fans, but at least once a week there's a thread asking about the potential "ATG" attributes of Corrie Sanders, whether it's power or speed or H2H ability or potential.

He's as dangerous a puncher as you could possibly get, especially early rounds.

Wlad ????? Sonny was 53 yrs of age, and if you believe his mom 77 anyway. Wlad was a young strong assassin when Sanders took his jaw off

Yeah yeah, and Luis Ortiz is a 65 year old Nigerian prince who needs my social security number and mothers maiden name, along with partner in crime Lateef Kayode. I've heard it all before Birmingham.

Liston was old and past prime, but he maintained pretty solid form into old age and his performances bore that out. He wasn't a shot fighter, just an older, slower one.

Where with Wlad, he had a ton of fights because he had turned pro young right out of the Olympics and had an extremely active first few years with lots of dubious padding... He still hadn't learned to pace himself, or proper defensive abilities. That would take another several years. Wladimir took a very, very long time to come together as a complete fighter. An exceptionally slowly progressed fighter, to be completely honest.

I can see why you'd prefer the Wlad knockout. That's more of a personal preference and is cool.
