As we head toward the 50 th anniversary of The Fight of the century, where do you personally rate it.? In general terms in boxing and in heavyweight fights? Greatest or one of the greatest heavyweight fights -Or overrated?
It's one of the greatest fights of all time, it could reasonably be called the greatest. I do find it somewhat overrated though, but still one of the best.
As a point of comparison I have the Thrilla in Manila in my all-time overall top 10 and no. 1 at heavyweight.
Thrilla was better then FOTC imo. Historically speaking it’s up there but as far as fights I’ve repeatedly watched it ranks lower imo
I personally agree but I'm not sure if it's because I wasn't around at the time. I do think Ali-Frazier 3 has the greater rewatch value though.
Certainly one of the most significant heavyweight fights as well. Up there with Johnson v Jeffries and rumble for definite.
My All time favorite fight. Thrilla is overrated imo, as both men had declined significantly, particularly their defense.
