Good power but nothing absurd, Hagler would be a big welterweight these days, cutting to 147 and rehydrating. Didn’t have power of the likes of Jackson, Mclellan, Golovkin, Benn etc.
Good power but not top shelf. hagler had the rep as a slugger but in my opinion his greatness was his versatility as a boxer and his all-round toughness.
He was a sharp puncher if not overwhelming, but he was so good at putting punches together so fluidly and accurately that he sometimes appeared more powerful than he might have been.
If im not mistaken Hagler has the highest knockout ratio of all undisputed middleweight champs at 78%. I believe this number speaks for itself.
A good question. A historian list of middle weight punchers is needed. I say he rates better than say 65-70% of middle with champions, not that I made such a list. I list a few non-champions ahead of him too. In fact lots of them. This to say his power was good, not very good, excellent or at the remarkable level.
Hagler didn't I agree it takes more then brute power and not all of Haglers ko's were. If I was giving my opinion then sure disagree but you disagreeing with a statistic kind of doesent make sense.
I wasn't aware he had the highest ko ratio of all the undisputed champs. I always saw him as a heavy handed guy, one that broke his opponent s down. A decent dig to him but certainly nothing like even Hearns.
This. hagler dissected people and broke them down. He wasn't a one trick power pony like Jackson for instance
