Nothing it’s your opinion BUT in my eyes Foreman did more so did Evander H2H and accomplishments go in there favour, resume aswell what did he do better then either?
1 Louis 2 Ali 3 Holmes 4 Lewis 5 Foreman 6 Wlad 7 Marciano 8 Frazier 9 Holyfield 10 Tyson 11 Johnson 12 Liston 13 Dempsey 14 Jeffries I got him at 4, but anywhere between 3-7 seems the range to me.
Well for me it goes• Muhammad Ali Joe Louis George Foreman Larry Holmes Evander Holyfield Lennox Lewis Mike Tyson Wladimir Klitschko Sonny Liston Rocky Marciano Joe Frazier (tied) My bottom five are iffy most of the time I swap there places but Lennoxs usually remains still, unless I’m taking H2H too much into account then he sits a little further down.
he did not take Mercer lightly. He tried his best, he knew Mercer was dangerous, IMO he was always going to struggle vs a strong smaller boxer with a good chin.
Idk, look at Lewis verse Ruiz, he seemed to handle him a lot easier then Mercer. I can imagine him takin Ray lightly tho, his record before hand was looking a little shaky. But, if as you say Lewis came prepared, then respect to Mercer, he did extremely well that night.
I have Lewis at #4 slightly behind Larry Holmes. I think Lewis has the better resume but Holmes would beat him head to head A old Larry Holmes also looked better against McCall and Mercer than Lewis did. Then again I don't think Lewis at any age would lose to Spinks
There is very little in terms of wins to back up Ruddock's reputation. His most notable wins were against guys past their primes who had fallen out of contention. The public at large may have viewed him as super formidable but his resume doesn't really provide much evidence to back such a reputation
Aside from Lewis, I suppose Akinwande, Damiani and Seldon were the best fighters McCall ever stopped, in his lengthy career. For Rahman, Corrie Sanders is about it. People say I'm too harsh on Lewis but I can't look at him losing to guys like McCall and Rahman and find a way to gloss over it. McCall and Rahman were just basic plodding heavyweights, strong but not much else. "He won the rematches though!" doesn't quite cut it.
I think he'll remain the "greatest British heavyweight" beyond this era, Fury and Joshua have the chance to surpass him but there's too much time wasted, too many filler fights, and the coronavirus situation hasn't helped them.
