Not as important historically because Wilders pretty woeful without his right hand, but they were a lot of fun to watch.
Entertaining trilogy because all 3 were different fights. The 1st was a boxing match, the 2nd was a one-sided demolition, the 3rd was a complete slugfest of a war.
Entertaining, purely because everyone expected Wilder to KO Fury in fight 1 due to Tyson’s issues & time out of the ring. He was cherry picked by Wilder. Fight 2. This was intriguing because Wilder knew what to expect & Fury would be better prepared. Fight 3. Probably seen as a formality, but couldn’t take your eyes off the screen. I paid for all 3 on PPV. Thoroughly enjoyed all 3. Not sure where or how to rate them as a trilogy. Probably not alongside the ones mentioned in the OP, but still great viewing.
I rate them in order of entertainment fight 1, fight 3, fight 2 I felt 3 was amazing live but on rewatch it was a sloppy hugfest down the stretch the first fight i thought both were at an optimal weight and they boxed well with each other with Wilder nearly pulling it out at the end. The only thing tainting it were the scorecards The second fight was an amazing performance and victory but just not an entertaining fight I dont know how I would rate them historically I guess since 2000 some of the best fights in the division were Klitschko vs Lewis, V Klitschko vs Sanders, Rahman vs Maskaev II, Brewster vs Liahovich, W Klitschko vs Joshua, Whyte vs Chisora I & II, Ortiz vs Wilder I, Travis Walker vs Alex Leapai, Peter vs McCline, and a few more I am struggling to remember I think the fights mix in well with those fight but I'm not prepared to say its better than the best of the 70's, 80's and 90's
History will do kind favours for both Fury & Wilder Wilder just needs another quality win under his belt and same with Fury which they can easily achieve it's just getting all the chips in place for it to happen. People still can't accept that there is more to Wilder than meets the eye and that his power is legit goat'ed but it will be concreted soon enough.
Yep, this is good. They all had a little something different to a degree. Could never really predict what was coming next!
If Haymon/Finkel can finally make the Ruiz and Joshua fights for Wilder, I strongly believe he KOs both, and he will go down as an inarguable bonafide HOF'er and easily one of the best heavyweights in this millennium.
Wilder's ability to stay up is just as phenomable as Fury's ability to get up. Looks like he's on stilts.
