Do you think they were faster than Ali's left-left-right against Williams?

Don't you think they might appear faster for just that reason?

Prime Ali was both fastest with his hands and on his feet.

Tyson would be second in handspeed.

Tyson said Patterson had the greatest hand speed. Don't know if he included himself, though. He had Ali as the greatest fighter. Don't remember if he meant at HW or overall.

It's on that film from the late 80's where he commented on the great fighters of boxing.

Tyson was tremendously explosive - as good as I have ever seen.

No doubt, his mechanics (stocky build) mean the time taken to complete the punch is shorter, which is not the same as the the actual speed of arm extension.

He also threw great combinations, retaining his speed and power throughout, and leaving very few gaps for counters.

Like all power athletes, he lost a bit of zip as his bouts progressed - but not enough to question his stamina.

My perception is that Ali has him covered, and with Patterson it is too close to call.

Ali's jab was lightning but he didn't have the combination punching ability of Tyson and Patterson.

For a very heavy puncher i say his speed was phoenomenal.. He'd hit you hard everytime he laid a glove on you and with sheer ferocity..

Floyd was the fastest , i always said that..... But Ali had fast feet too... I say Tyson could come in a close third.. and that is a huge accomplishment..

(Both Floyd and Tyson were products of D'amato) Cus had some branding iron there...

Probably in the top 5, most definitely top top 10. I feel some heavies i.e Dokes and Page, were every bit as fast in their heydey.
