Sugar is going to look like he got old over night which will be half truth, the other half will be that he has looked good against Mayorga and Magarito, who are very far removed from Floyd. Those two guys were there to be hit, will be a lot different against Floyd.
There's a few way to look at this with the present version of PBF and the lightweight PBF. The present version's skillset is BORING. I'd imagine some really technical pressure fighters to wear him into a brutal kayo. His variety lacks severely especially when he fights limited opponents. Granted, he's not perfect and Hatton & DLH did get some moments against this version. In the end it was Mayweather who in honest opinion should make better attempts to take on the best, especially if he's the one proclaiming it. Doesn't he see what happened to Roy? The lightweight version was so damn exciting! Lightning fast and willing to trade a little. This skillset I give a lot more credit to.
Maybe in his two fights against crap comp at lightweight, this is true. But in his two fights against good comp at lightweight (the Castillo fights), this is highly false.
I'll have to do a Mayweather review today after some work. Maybe I'm getting nostalgic for those days. I'll have to reaffirm that I know where I stand. Thanks for the gut check.
I can't believe you haven't had more replies. This is a very good post. I rate Mayweather by the way.
