In ATG rankings with regards to Mexican fighters only. Does a win move him ahead of Barrera, Morales? Does it bring him closer to the #1 spot? Your thoughts?

IMO, It don't move him. All respect to Katsidis but a JMM win is expected.

He is behind Morales and Barrera

What is JMM's signature win? Past his prime Barrera maybe? Old Casamayor? Juan diaz?

Prime JMM lost to Chris John and Norwood.

    He was humiliated by Floyd.

JMM is so highly rated because he can fight Pac tough and he has been near the top for a long time.

A win against Katsidis does not do much.

I don't think this fight is about moving up in rankings, so much as a chance to Gage where he is at in his fighting career and to see how much is left in his tank. In my eyes he beats barrera anyday of the week prime for prime. But a fight between him and a prime morales is a toss up and a work of art that's a shame it never happened.

It moves him a few inches forward. Somewhere. A win over Katsidis doesn't really affect things, but it does say alot about JMM's continued brilliance. He's outlasted his Mexican rivals. Beating Katsidis is another solid mark.

I don't know you can come to that conclusion. The fight was fairly close and Barrera was past his prime and JMM was still in his prime. Barrera knocked him down.

I think prime to prime it is a great fight with Barrera edging him on points.

No. Winning the 140 title is the only way JMM can be #1 ATG among the many great Mexican prize fighters, IMO.

mayweather its irrelevant, you know what happen with the weight...he did beat barrera, period.casamayor and juan diaz are and were really respected fighters...now,barrera,didnt he get his ass handed to him by paquiao,or that one doesnt count for paquiao either..chris john its something that you might not understand...so,in your lame and ignorant opinion, who does marquez has to beat to in order to gaing your p4p rating,,i think he is between morales and barrera..by the way they are both younger than marquez(barrera from '74 morales from'76 and marquez from '73)and marquez is still strong and going. katsidis does not jump him in the ranks, but it does help.....everybody knows he is above mayweather in the p4p ranks......:tong

I just don't feel barrera posseses what it takes to beat jmm he isn't going to outbox him he isn't faster and maybe has an edge in power but I watched that fight too and jmm had mab buzzed as well. In my opinion mab always has a strong showing vs jmm but I acredit that to his heart first skill set second.
