I thought Dawson called him out at SMW, and the way his next fight went I don't think he would have done much better at LHW anyways.

Bute? Not sure he's even worthy of being ducked tbh.

Dawson moved up from 168 in freaking 2006 because he couldn't make the weight anymore and by 2011 he was having trouble with 175. The fight was the definition of a farce Dawson looked gassed walking to the ring the fact that Ward didn't KO him in the first round is a joke.

I can't really rate him at 175. You have the win over Barrera. Bur I thought he looked declined and was out boxed by a declined looking Kovalev, and on his way to a repeat performance before the low blows.

A mark of a Genuine ATG is taking an immediate rematch after a loss or controversial decision and coming back to produce a better performance.
Kovalev was meant to go ballz to the wall and end Wards career in the rematch , yet he ended up getting folded him in half by Ward who learned from the first fight and made all the necessary adjustments to perform better.
He done well for his short stay at 175 , but his true legacy is at 168. Thats where he ranks up around the top.

I think he is fights short of a legacy. He only had 33 fights in his career. I thought after Kovalev he would move up and use that win to put a punctuation on his career with a heavyweight title or cruiserweight or something.. He needed more.. He retired too early.

I agree, but it's hard to criticize someone who gets out of boxing with their money and health.

I concur. Dawson was fine with the weight going in. There may have been some truth to him having been knocked out in sparring though, no fault of Ward.

He does not. However, he does rank in the TOP 5 at super middleweight.
Frankly, I do not understand his retirement, he could have achieved so much more in terms of legacy.
Well, he ma ycome back in a couple years, you never know.

being a LHW for 2 years and beating the top man doesnt make you an ATG at that weight.

    You need to do more!

Yeah, Conn's a bit of a nightmare for Ward I think.

He's one of the best ever at SMW but all he has at LHW is a gift win over Kovelav in the first fight and a controversial stoppage in the second.
