I have him 4th behind Monzon, Hagler, and Greb. So consistent inside and out of the ring.

Hes simply a better boxer and more complete than Monzon and Hagler and overall has better achievements than both. Its not popular to say that because those 2 are worshipped on here. Hes certainly more consistent at 160 than Robinson. I can't compare him to Greb because I haven't seen Greb

So Arguably No1 depending on your criteria

    Yeah.

But I don't dive to deep in the MW division in terms of rankings. It's absolute murder to rate this division. Most of all, what to do with Burley, NP Jack Dempsey, Langford, Holman Williams...

Holman Williams has a win resume that absolutley embarresses Hopkins'. I mean, what to make of that? There is no film of Williams. Nor is there film of Greb. Greb is seen as a valid #1. Williams has a better resume at the weight than all the other fighters mentioned here, aside from Harry...

    Anyway

    1 - Robinson
    2 - Greb
    3 - Monzon
    4 - Hagler
    5 - Hopkins

I used to have Burley at 5, Hopkins at 4 and Hagler way down at 6, but like Louis atop the HW's, it just wouldn't stick for me.

I think he matches up very well and beats Hagler 7 out of 10 times. Monzon would be tough for him and I used to think he would be the favorite over Bernard but Monzon does not have the great attribute that gives Hopkins the most problems which is speed. I would favor Robinson over Hopkins though. He has the speed and footwork to beat him.

i rank at the weights by ranking fighters at just what they achieved at the weight so heres my top 5 ( that is why greb is so low as he achieved much more at higher weights)

    1. Hagler
    2. Monzon
    3. Robinson
    4. Greb
    5. Hopkins

Not at the level of Hagler, Monzon, and Robinson, but somewhere near there.

I've always thought hopkins has the tools to beat hagler frustrating the hell out of him forcing hagler to get wild and fall in with his punches plus when hopkins would have been forced to trade and fight inside he's definetly capable even though he has never fought a middleweight anywhere near as strong as hagler.

His era was far to weak to warrant that IMO. I dont think he achieved more at middleweight than any of those fighters.

Hopkins himself said he thought Monzon would have beaten him. He said he and Hagler would be a war ... I like both over Hop but he was an all time top ten ...
