Very interesting points here to consider.

    Bute?:

Well I think for him maybe Ward is still on the cards. although much less attractive. He has been badly beaten by Froch but lets not forget that whilst a much less ksilled boxers he is also heavier handed and more willing to mix it up, Ward tends to box and whilst very awkward maybe Bute could be competitive.

Move to light heavy? Bute is very tall for the division and has boxed LH before, maybe a move up in weight could help his punch resistance, it has helped Khan and countless others.

Other then those two I would say just retire, he has made a lot of money and I dont think the wider boxing world is very interested in him building back up in Canada after that loss.

    Froch?:

Very hard this. Ward? Anyone want to see this again? Not me.

Kessler rematch is a good option, but feels to me somewhat like its a step back not forwards.

Move the light heavy? Froch pretty much lives at his weight so i think his gain would be less then others fighters in moving up but maybe Dawson? Cloud? Cleverly? [unlikely as a protected FW fighter]

I dunno. This has most certainly messed up the Ward/Bute superfight that was supposed to occur. Bute always has his "road to redemption" to travel now. But not much I can see Froch doing beyond defending against his mandatories.

    Rematch with Froch I hope.

Yep, it was a terrible loss but I still believe he can beat Froch if he changes his strategy.

I dont know, as well as leaving permanent damage I think a loss like that leaves a real scar. Mentally I dont think he'd be able to step to Froch again. He's no it in the weight in and one he takes a couple of shots he would really know it then.

Froch - Kessler II in Ingerlund.
Bute back to Canada to rebuild his career, maybe snatch a paper belt and defend it against some bums to make a few dollars.

Bute goes back into witness protection in Canada, might as well turn in his passport.

Look for the rematch. I know SKY was gushing how Bute simply wouldn't take it but they aren't all that objective now are they? Seriously, I expect the rematch in Montreal. Not sure if the talk I'm reading about Bute's weight is legit or not but he needs to keep it off starting now and get back to training.

If Bute opt for the rematch it could well turn out like Diaconu a few years ago against Pacal. 2 losses in a row against the same opponent and career over.

I think he should take the rematch though

Froch has everything open to him. He did the super six thing and did well and then wins this fight. He has a pick of options. Has he ever thought about 175 pounds or fought here? Bute? The bad thing for Bute is that this was his biggest fight and he was favored to win and it was a step up and he didn't do well. He needs to take 6 months off and come back against average guys for confidence and hope to win the title again against anyone but Froch, and then maybe someday get a rematch. Fighting Froch now would be a mistake. I am not sure how much he can improve on that.

I'll be happy to see 16,000 in the Bell Centre watch Bute get raped again.

that was the key -all the fights Froch had against top guy like Jermaine Taylor, Arthur Abraham,Glen Johnson,Andre Ward, Andre Direll, Mikkel Kessler, invaluable. I picked Froch to win because I thought for people say Bute will win so easily almost insults these other guys who are the tops of their game. Froch learned his craft in the same way Marvin Hagler did. Fighting everyone and getting tough with competition.

I hope not. I think Froch at this point is too quick. Bernard should retire.
