His highest pay day, I’d expect. Do you think the HBO exposure against Martinez will help him back onto their network?

Lee won’t be interested in Darren coming off of a loss – it does nothing for him if he wants Sergio. I’d wait for Chavez to beat the **** out of Manfredo and then go for the loser. Decent name, probably gets on HBO on the undercard of the next Chavez fight and maybe sets up a fight with Jr.

    The options

Felix Sturm for the WBA title. Might be do-able, Sturm has picked his challengers carefully but he was willing to rematch Macklin and I don't think he has anything else in the pipeline

IBF and WBO Champions Geale and Pirog are fighting each other it seems so that's out. Geale would have been good, if he could out box Martinez at times a tough but skill lacking Geale would really struggle with Barker.

Macklin. No title, finally get the match on, it was supposed to happen last year. Problem is Macklin has now signed with Dibella to get a crack at Martinez.

Proksa for the European title. I'd avoid that, he looks really tricky and the EBU belt is moving backwards

Andy Lee. Barker would beat him. Might be a good come back fight but would Lee's handlers risk undoing all that rebuilding work without a title shot and payday?

Sebastian Sylvester. Must be on the slide and could make a good England vs Germany fight to get people interested. The further he slips down the pecking order the easier it'll be to get him in the ring and get a name win on Barkers record.

Then you've got the WBA and WBA interim "champions", Golovkin is pretty good I've never seen the other guy, I hope he won't go after these miserable excuses for championships.

The guy could beat Geale or Sturm. He won a fair few rounds against a p4p fighter and made the fight close contrary to what many say. Hitting gloves ain't the scoring target and it's a shame Darren didn't work more but he's shown himself to be capable at top level. Get him a big fight early in 2012. Macklin/Lee/Geale/Sturm
