Where does Deontay Wilder rank in terms of hardest heavyweight punchers?

Wlad is one of the hardest punchers in history, so no shame in that. Though, I'm not entirely convinced, although it's clear that Wlad is 10x the boxer that Deontay is.

Tyson was great at knocking out tomato cans too. The thing is at elite level stop folding like lawn chairs and actually fight back. Tyson learned that and so will Wilder.

Owen Beck has fought or sparred a who's who of the HW division (including Wilder when Beck was completely shot though) :think

Interviewer: ''There's a big debate as to whether Wilder's power is overrated.''

OB: ''I don't respect his power. I've got young amateurs in my gym who hit harder than him. I've got 152lb fighter in my gym who hits harder than Deontay and this kid only has 3 amateur fights.''

''I'm not going to try and take too much away him or anything but I don't respect his power.''

''If you're over 200lbs you can punch. But like I said, I didn't see nothing from Wilder that I would respect''

Wlad wants your head, but he wants it on his terms, and it seemed to me atleast, with one shot. Lennox wanted my head period, and he came to take it.

Lennox also fights inside, whereas Wlad just holds you like a vice grip. It's tough getting free, but with Lewis, He's banging away with his right hand, and that uppercut is a killer.

I think Wlad has all the advantages as a boxer, but he's not half the stud in a pier 6 brawl, and Lennox could go there when he wanted, and was damn good in that scenario. Prime for Prime, he'd realize that pecking with jabs and booming right hands is counter productive, he'd wade in, and he'd punch in the clinches.

I'll put it this way. Tua needed his bombs on Maskaev and Oquendo to happen. George Foreman rallied against Lou Savarese and Crawford Grimsley and they DIDN'T hit the canvas. He was also capable of a Moorer one punch late.

But George didn't hit like Tua at all. Different kinds of power. One can stop you in a single punch, the other can hurt you, punish you, and run you over. George was stronger though, I can tell you that. Heavier jab. Heavier power, you felt it more the more it hit you. 10 jabs from George and your face goes numb. His right hand and his hook had a similar effect. Just punishing. It hurts, cows you. His hands are like freaking tennis racket heads. Tua's left hook pops your ear drums, though. Right up the with the right hands Wlad and Lewis were hitting me with that made everything fuzzy and made my legs jelly. George hurt me every punch, but he never rocked me or put me in trouble, which the other three did. On the sum, I'd much rather spar them than him for that reason. Just different kinds of power. Big muscles, huge hands, tons of commitment, no speed, vs. All legs, speed, sharpness, and drive.

Mike's power was in his speed. Wlad's is in technique, size, and tremendous leverage. Different sorts, both incredibly devastating.

It was absolutely intimidating; He regularly has to pull his punches in sparring because partners can't handle the heat.

Knocked me down with a left hook the other time, took my headgear half off and made my left leg go numb. I was just utterly concussed.

I need a drink after writing this post. I'm gonna be dumb as a rock in another ten years.

I'm glad you mentioned Tua, at his peak he appeared to be one hell of a puncher - he rocked people who had good jaws regularly... if not put them to sleep, and due to height/reach/skill/whatever you want to put it against it wasn't due to cutting them down over time so much as managing to land a few bombs that few could muster (or sustain) the force of.
