Could be the poster's keyboard had a bit of a temporary glitch and omitted an ' and the word career ?
Great post, agree with everything in it. I train in the same gym as Eubank in Hove. The ring he spars in is about ten feet from where I normally do my bagwork, although when he's in usually the area is reserved. A decent guy, always pleasant to the nobodies. Over the last few years, exactly as you've said, it seemed to me his physique and appearance is changing - not talking about the SMP and beard plugs! The muscle mass has dropped, there's a bony-skulled fragility to his frame now at 160. Partly that'll be the testosterone dump of ageing, but it's a clear sign to move up, take on board the nutrients needed, and go to 168. Instead it was arse over tit, moving up early to machine gun at 168 but without proper pop on punches. Now the drop down, including the recent 157 shot. Crazy. And terrible prep at 33 for a properly tough fight at 160. Tbf, I suppose people told Jr this who he would listen to, but, according to anyone that knows him far better than me saying "hi" from time to time, he is a stubborn bugger. His best asset is actually confidence - a mentally truly tough kid. As so often in life, one's 'best asset' often contains the seeds of a reversal. I'm a fan. I hope he comes back. I hope he chins Smith.
I don't see him calling it a day so that leaves him with either a rematch or moving back up to super middleweight. What he does need is to get rid of RJJ as all he is trying to do is turn him in to a poor clone of himself.
He will want to make as much money as possible in the next 18 months before he calls it a day, so effectively will look to cash out. He's in a unique position as he will always have the Eubank name to trade on, he's presentable, articulate and a brilliant and clever self promoter so he will be able to earn very good money outside of boxing via media work and TV. In my opinion he won't move up to 168, just because it's the right thing to do, as that's not where the money is at, and Eubank Jnr. has only ever been in it for the money. He's going to have zero interest in rebuilding at a higher weight which he was not very effective at and going up the rankings trying to fight for a belt, that's never been what he is about. I think he will either: 1- fight Smith again if the contract is really lucrative and the guaranteed pay day is big enough, he can still fight Benn after that regardless of the result, each fight nets him a seven figure pay day. or 2- have a confidence boosting tune up (at 160) and go into a Benn fight straight after it. Conor has been out of the right for around year himself, so will probably want a tune up at the new weight rather than just jumping straight to 160. Then a Benn re-match regardless of the result, and probable retirement. I think he will go with option 2.
There are still big fights out there for him outside of the Smith rematch. He could fight Conor Benn, Kell Brook, Billy Joe Saunders….all fights you’d expect him to win without a lot of trouble or taking too much damage. That would be better than fighting Smith again and losing. All the fights I mentioned would be staged on PPV.
Hahaha remember that. He lost a lot of money that night you can tell. Idiot. I made a lot the bookies had that one allll wrong.
