5 weight class title's, 3 lineal title's. Undefeated on paper and has a very solid resume of B to B+ level fighters overall in all of these weight classes. Never having defeated a true elite in any of those weight classes kind of has me wondering if he should be placed on the same level as his contemporaries and outright comparison to Jones Jr. I personally rank him in the 80's. For comparison, I rank Hopkins in the 70's, James Toney in the 60's and DLH in the 70's as well, with Roy Jones being in the mid-20's.
He doesn't have 5 linear titles, he has 3. 130, 135, 147. 140 and 154 were paper titles, although nobody should seriously count 147 and what he did there as anything to be impressed about.
Lol a little debate we were having last night. There are several posters on this site that believe he has five.
Sure, look at his resume and overall competition. Floyd should not rank over James Toney at this point, Toney defeated several true A class fighters, Floyd has defeated at best several B+ fighters and arguably lost to one of them. The level of competition considered, Toney stands better as a weight jumper, flaws included. Toney's resume has it's issue's, but it's also quite impressive. People seriously do not rate resume's correctly if they do not think that Toney's is very good.
Actually, 147 is his strongest claim to a lineal title. You could debate his lineal status at 135 and 130 but not 147.
Again, look at Hopkins' competition in comparison to Floyd's, he absolutely deserves to be ranked over Floyd on consistency, competition standard and longevity. On what grounds does Floyd deserve to be in the 30's on his overall cherry picked competition, having never fought a real elite fighter in any of the weight classes he fought. Castillo and Corrales are the closest to 'elite' on his record, but they don't quite make the cut, B+. Hopkins has fought plenty of elite's, the only issue is that they weren't at their best weight's.
