its the best hyped up fight and atmosphere surrounding a fight i can remember in my lifetime, i was probably alive during other greats but not realised the importance etc. but i can remember EVERYONE being gripped to this fight. even my mum who thinks boxing is barbaric stayed up to watch the weigh in!

and to the the dude who thought calzaghe kessler wasnt intense, i was in the millenium stadium that night and the atmosphere was awesome. I know the stadium helps alot but there was a genuine good feel and everyone knew they were going to see a fight.

Yeah I think its pretty tough to top 35, 000 brits invading Los Vegas for a fight between two guys with opposing styles who were both prime and most people though was going to be competitive. So yeah thats all one pretty intense atmospher. As often turns out with these things the fight didn't live up to the fans, but it wasn't a bad one.

On a personal level the most I've ever been into a fight was the Cotto Margo fight. Man I was gettting goose bumps and that nervous empty feeling at least a week before that went down. And that fight lived up to expectations and more.

Unfortunently though nothing these days can touch what would have been hype surround fights back when boxing was mainstreem. I imagine a lot of the tyson fights had far more hype then this.

I'm not sure if that atmosphere here is that much more intense than most big fights in the U.K.

The U.K. has great crowds in their big fights.

In terms of an event Hatton - Mayweather had it all...

    UK v USA

    Cocky fighter v humble fighter

    Black v White

Add to all these tangibles the contrasting styles of the fighters and the fantastic build up to the fight, you have the makings of an electric atmosphere

i dont even believe that... like theres no way during any tyson fight the crowd was singing songs hours before the actual fight....

I didn't think it was intense at all. I guess there was good build up, but the intensity just wasn't there. No electricity. Not much drama.

It seemed like a nice atmosphere if thats what you mean. I would have love to been there live. Those brit fans are amusing with all their singing.

I would have liked to have been at the Foreman-Moore fight. The crowd seemed really loud and cheering after Foreman pulled out the KO win. It must have been amazing to been there live.

Lol, yeah definitely feel ya there. But for in my opinion there's more to an atmosphere then a bunch of noise. It more about energy then anything else. And yes in a crude fashion noise = energy but there are other ways of measuring intensity. Like Anxiety, or suspense, or fear, or tension. Honestly for me, when I'm intest about a fight its like I'm fighting the fight myself I'm so on edge...no time for la - la - di -da's if you no what I mean. But like I said its pretty tough to top and I wasn't in to boxing back then so what do I know.

Im thinking he means the energy of the crowd and not really so much the fight itself, atleast thats how I read it.
