Where does Frank Mir stand in the HW divison ? Was Lesnar a much publicized fighter, who just didn't have it. Did he just beat the next big superstar of mma? What are peoples thoughts of Frank Mir, and where does he rank in the HW's?

He beat a talented but inexperienced fighter. I think it makes him a name again. However he is second tier.

First teir is gonna b Sylvia, Fedor, Couture, Nog etc

I'm sure they could hook Frank up with another payday.

  3. Frank Mir had a great run before he got in his motorcycle accident. Since then, he's been hit or miss. He seems intelligent in the ring and likes to wait for someone to make a mistake. Unfortunatley, that "waiting" has cost him a few matches. I honestly didn't think he looked that great against Lesnar until he got a hold of his ankle.

I've always liked him as a person and with the way the heavywight division is...I don't doubt that he could be champion once again.

    ^^^ I agree.

Mir.....it's not that he is physically slow but his pace is. He relies on
his BJJ too much. I won't say that BJJ is all he has but it's a major portion of his fight game, in fact it makes up most of it. He needs to be more well rounded.

A good case for this is that he was getting hammer fisted to death by Lesnar. He his best on his back but at this point in MMA where everyone knows sub defense and ground control, you don't really want to be at your best in a postition that you could get GNP'D in.

    In my opinion.

Mir beat Sylvia before his motorcycle accident. He seems to be back in shape and recovered compared to his previous comeback fights.

People talk alot about the accident but no one says how it affected his game.

What has Mir said? Does he say he is a lesser fighter?

I'm saying Sylvia just because he is currently in the mix of big fights rather than being the/a top dog.

Even before his accident he seemed to get tired quick, so I don't know how he'd do in the fourth or fifth rounds. Also, in terms of BJJ he may be better than a lot of guys his size, but Big Nog isn't one of them. Does anyone think that there's any way possible for him to beat Big Nog and if so please tell me how because I don't see it AT ALL.

  9. I believe you're right. As long as Nog has the title, Mir doesn't have a shot. Not only is his ground game stronger than Mir's but Mir would NEVER knock him out. He's got a chin of stone.

I do not think he will win the title but he should be well placed for a shot. I know the Lesnar win was a joke considering it was Lesnars second fight and he was **** but Mir has a big name now and that is what Dana likes more than anything.

I think mir vs Sylvia would be a good fight next, Tim wants that fight for revenge and Mir could boost himself among the contenders if he can get by Sylvia again.

Anybody can be knocked out. As far as a fight between him and Nog. It would be really good cause Mir has a better understanding of the ground better Sylvia. And physically I think Mir would be stronger than Nog. So I think it would be classic to be honest. That would be a fight between 2 heavyweights moving like little guys on the ground. It would be a chess match. Mir would have to make sure his cardio can go 5 rounds though.

Mir would hang for a while but Nog would get him eventually.

The win over Lesnar was good for Mir. It was better for his PR than his actual ranking in the division. It seems like the perfect match would be Sylvia and Mir - with the winner getting in line to challenge big Nog.
