Where does Froch stand in Best British SMW now?

Your opening analogy is trite shite and has been proven to be wrong on numerous occasions.

Hopkins wasn't in his prime, nowhere close...next thing you'll be telling us that Calzaghes win over Jones was against a prime version. We know that Hopkins was past it because Joe fought him, he would never have taken his last two opponents on in their primes...Froch would.

If you go on how you think each fight would pan out you couldn't put Froch no 1 but if you go on resume then you have to put Froch very high and remember he is not done yet.

Bute (if he beats Ward) or possibly Pascal at LHW.

If he wins 2 out of these then his record will probably be the most impressive.

 

As much as I like Froch, people are kind of forgetting that despite his opposition being of a high standard lately, he arguably lost against Dirrell and was seconds away from losing against Taylor. I fancy that a few people on the list wouldn't have had as much trouble as Froch did those nights. If we're ranking records then that's something else, but if you're ranking the fighters talents then I'd go something like this:

Froch has faced some stiff opposition, but got a gift against Dirrell, lost to Kessler and just about beat Taylor.

 

The Dirrell fight was just a stinker, neither of them really did anything.

At least Froch tried to fight..... Dirrell deserved to get fired by the judges for fighting like a fanny.

As for only just beating Taylor, a fight is 12x3's after all.....

 

People have conveniently short memories. Also, Benn has easily faced better quality opposition in my mind. Maybe not in a row like Froch but Barkley in the States, 2 x Eubank, McClellan, Wharton, Collins, Watson **** all over past-prime Kessler, Taylor, Pascal, Abraham and Dirrell.

As for my opening analogy sometimes facts as that can't be taken as verbatim as to proving how good a fighter was but in a lot of cases it can. You are a dick. Froch has dominated Abraham and won while way behind on the cards to Taylor in decline. They are good wins none the less but not enough for him to be crowned best British super middleweight of all time.

At the moment, I think we have to credit Calzaghe with the No1 slot because he rounded up all the belts, and was the only person ever to unify the division.

It is not impossible that Froch could overtake him however!
