I think you've watched too many old movies and listened to Bert Sugar too much.

Take your Stanley Ketchell t-shirt off and enter the colour television era!

Quarry was a very good fighter. He was more formidable than all but...three Hopkins opponents? I don't even consider it Frazier's second best opponent but my point was, he has more depth in his quality of opposition.

Not at all. I just see him as the fighter he is - good at dominating mediocrity but has never beaten a single great fighter, in his own weight class. Simple as that.

  4. He's one of my favorite fighters but I cant see a strong argument for him being in the top 20. Top 50 maybe. His ability to defy age does not transfer to credit on P4P & ATG lists. That's totally irrelevant.

I don't agree with the whole Quarry thing. Glenn Johnson, Felix Trinidad, Winky Wright, Antonio Tarver and Kelly Pavlik are all better fighters than Quarry and you would struggle to convince people otherwise.

Can you name anyone that Hopkins ducked at 160lbs? He beat everyone he could, even taking on Taylor when he could have moved up years prior. I'll agree to disagree!

Oh and who do you think Frazier beat that was better than Quarry but not as good as Ali?

You're right dude, it doesn't, but he's in his twilight years whipping good fighter's asses and that is adding to his standing! Agreed?

  7. Im not sure what you mean by "standing? :p . It obviously puts him at no1 on the ATG "fight in your old age" list, but nothing related t boxing. What it does mean is that he's one of the best light heavyweights around ATM, after being one of the best middle-weights of all time.

Well I rated him really high before he beat the living **** out of Pavlik. Even though Kelly isn't a HOFer (yet) it was the way Hopkins won. He looked sensational so I rate him higher based on an electric performance!

I totally get what you're saying though and it's made me pause!

Johnson ranks nowhere at 160lbs. Tito was ok at 160, but lacks a big win himself. Winky and Pavlik were nobodies at the weight and it should have happened at 160lbs. Tarver is probably Hopkins' best win - Antonio Tarver! I think Quarry was a better fighter, pound for pound, than Tarver was.

He didn't duck anyone but he shouldn't be given bonus points for dominating a weak division. His resume is poor. Is it his fault? Not nessecarily. Wins over Taylor, Jones and Calzaghe would have put him in the top 50 though but he wasn't good enough to beat those.

I think Chuvalo and Ellis were better.

LOL What am I missing with Jerry boy here:lol:

Bashed about twice by Ali EASILY
Bashed about twice by Frazier (2nd FIGHT WAS A MASSACRE)
Bashed by Norton (ALMOST KILLED STONE DEAD)
    SPARKED CLEAN OUT BY CHUVALO

Okay three totally great fighters in there but world champions like Winky, Tarver, Pavlik etc are superior because they win big fights and they don't catch 60 punches a round

Lose the golden era nostalgia boys - you can't be serious!

I can't have a debate regarding lack of competition on Bhops part? It's lunacy. That guy has one of the most impressive resumes over the last quarter century. You may as well say every modern day fighter is crap?

Chuvalo? A lovely guy but a shock absorber! Ellis? An Ali sparring partner who was a blown up middleweight! I would list this guys loses and reasons why I can't take him seriously but ther ain't enough space!

That is a poor list to be honest, Dempsey belongs nowhere near a top 30 P4P list. Joe Louis is too high, though I have him top 20. Foreman is between 60-70 IMO. Chavez shouldn't be above Sweet Pea.

You really need to watch some more boxing, Joe Frazier above Ike Williams, Alexis Arguello, Kid Gavilan, Jose Napoles, to name but a few?!?!?!?!?!?
