Yeah, but I didn't mean sparring- but he should stay in the gym and train. When Khan was knocked silly by Prescott he was back in the gym the next day. Even quitter Brook was back in ur gym within days after Spence. To be honest though, nobody wants to see heavyweights fighting like him so unless there was a drastic change which is unlikely I don't know where he can go.
For someone who is 6ft 6", the best part of 17 stone and a steroid user, he has a serious lack of power.
Tyson is way more aggressive than Fury. Compare Parker's face post fight with Chisora's after the rematch and Klitschko's in Germany. That's the difference.
not to be harsh on the lad but unless he introduces a bit of offense to his game I have absolutely no interest in watching him again. I am glad he didn't get the decision personally.
I don't think it could've worked out much better for Fury. He's not ready to defend a title against all-comers yet. He got some good experience, chin was tested, stamina held up against a very good pressure fighter and it was a close enough fight that his confidence should be intact. It's a cliche but he'll have gotten more out of that than all that came before. It's also not fair to compare him to Tyson yet, he's at or around the same level of experience Tyson was when he faced Chisora. Parker's limited but I'd rate him above Chisora at the time of the first fight, which was competitive. Another upside was the timing of his counters, he was looking to do damage but no doubt Parker's packing that Samoan granite. I'm sure Mick will have kicked the cat when he got home but even from a promoter's point of view, things could've worked out a LOT worse in what was always going to be a gamble. Ideally, Fury needs to get back on the horse sooner rather than later. Face some perennial contenders slightly beneath Parker but well above his previous opponents. Start rebuilding the hype with some pretty wins and then work himself into another shot against the right champion. Looking at the ratings, that would probably still be Parker.
Solid chin and good defensive skills, but zero aggression or power. Needs to employ a professional strength and power coach simply to see if they can bring out some power in him. With power he'd be fine and he'd do well, but without it he'll go nowhere.
People are talking like he was outclassed, he made Parker look average last night. You can't land sweet on the lad, his footwork and defence really is quality. He moves like a 160. People are writing the kid off but he’s only 23 and he’s going to learn an awful lot from that defeat. He has it sussed defensively, which imo puts most other active heavyweights to shame for that. He can learn a lot lot more, offensively. It’s excellent not being hit but you have to hurt your opponent and catch the eye of the judges. It was a controversial defeat. He didn’t get sparked out, he didn’t get outclassed, the world champion in the other corner wasn’t on another level. Lots of positives. Back in gym and work his way back.
Tyson also has some physicality and sting to his punches to go with this running and spoiling style, Hughie literally has NOTHING on his punches. He needs to gain some definition and work on putting some sting on his punches.
The problem is he isn't marketable, his fights a boring style and doesn't sell his fights with charisma etc like a Fury, Mayweather etc
He's got talent and moves well for such a big bloke, but does lack pop. He's an awkward customer though and his style doesn't appeal to the masses, so people won't be queuing up to fight him or give him a shot at titles.
As a PPV draw he's finished (if he ever was one). His jab makes Audley Harrison's look like Lennox Lewis'!
Hughie needs to punch harder and/or punch more often. I wasn't at all impressed. He's fast and moves well but he was too far away from his opponent most of the time to even land a good punch. People say he lacks pop but that's not really the problem. He's rarely getting close enough to touch Parker, nevermind punch through a target. Maybe they were following the "T,Fury - Klitschko" blueprint - but that was an usual case. Tyson got away with a low output and staying far away because he made sure he landed the best flurries in almost every round. It totally flummoxed Wlad. But Hughie just ran and did an impression of a stick-and-mover without actually scoring more than Parker. Even so, Joseph Parker's really the bigger disappointment. He's had three lacklustre performances in a row now and it's clear he's not getting any better. I don't usually blame trainers but he might need to change who he is with.
