Is he an ATG? He beat Kid Lavigne, Frank Erne, Young Corbett II and Battling Nelson. And it seems he deserved to beat Joe Gans. If anyone has more info on the Gans fight I'd love to see it. Based off of just that, he'd have debatable a top 20p4p argument, but if you delve deeper you find The questionable Gans loss was avenged Nelson knocked him out in their first fight, then drew with him in their final. And lost to Packey McFarland Ultimately he went 4-4-2 in his fights against HOF-ers. He doesn't have that many fights as well. Though I must admit, the first fight against Gans, the 2nd fight against Nelson, and a draw against Terry McGovern may give him top 100 status I don't have a top 100 p4p but he feels like a 100-90 placement or maybe an honorable mention

Worth pointing out, he got a bad injury in the second Gans fight, and the McFarland fight was after that. A bit of a correction he beat Nelson in their first fight, lost the second, and won the third.

Right I read about the wrist injury, it's still a mark on his record but understandable I cannot believe I missed that he beat Nelson TWICE. Nelson was never the most consistent fighter but damn if that isn't impressive... That about solidifies the top 100 placing for me
I should note actually, there seems to have been a fair bit of debate about the seriousness of the injury. And most seem to have thought he was losing anyway. He may have been the type to peak high, but just have terrible longevity, ad by 1909 he was losing to Johnny Summers. Hopefully some people more familar with him will comment, as I've not really looked into him before

Good thread, thoroughly enjoyed it. I don't have any insight on the guy to give but he's being considered for my ever changing top 100 which I still haven't finished. Oh if only Philly was still around.
