im talking about punch resistance. gamboa would have been laid out by that shot. salido walked through 99 percent of lopez shots. look at his face. the haya left hook was a huge shot
I'm talking about whether he can go on getting hit with shots like that, not whether he has poor punch resistance, which clearly he doesn't.
I would say the first kd was similar to the Lopez one, and Salido was ****ed. The 2nd was humongous and he was proper ****ed, but the Filipino wasn't all that. The point I'm trying to make is I don't know how much mileage Siri has on the clock.
It really is hard to imagine how Salido got knocked out 5 times in his first 15 fights, the guy is tough as nails.
He was still a kid for just about every stoppage defeat I believe. I may be incorrect but I think he was only 19 the last time he was stopped.
Yeah, many examples of nails fighters getting stopped early on in their careers. Especially Mexicans. Salido is tough as old boots, but has clearly come into his own at the peak of his experience. These wins over Lopez are arguably the best showings of his career, and he's been around for yonks. Great to see.
Yeah man, happy for him no doubt. He grew on me a lot after the Cristobal Cruz fights - Lacandón is one of my favourite fighters, incidentally - where they exchanged victories. It was a bit obvious who the better fighter was though, as much as I like the guy an awful lot of Cruz's success is down to sheer will out being able to hustle guys rather than through any actual skill. Salido's pretty superior in terms of your traditional skills. It was clear to see who had the greater opportunity to move on to have even more success. Siri's done well to move on from those steroid problems that it seemed he'd become notorious for. Despite the fact I didn't actually want him to beat JuanMa I'm glad for him. He's put a lot of work in, and always guarantees some fun.
Yeah, and I imagine his reputation would be even better right now with a controversy-free win over Guerrero.
I've just seen the official scorecards for this fight 85-85 86-84 x2 both in favour of JuanMa! Confused.
This is why I was happy Salido got the knockout, because if he didn't, he may well have got robbed. Colonel Bob and the other guy (not sure who it was) commentating for Top Rank had it level as well =\
I had it 87-84 to Salido at the stoppage. Rnd 1: 10-9 Salido - (not many clean punches from either but I felt his pressure deserved the round) Rnd 2: 10-9 Salido - (caught Juanma with some good shots and forced him back throughout) Rnd 3: 10-9 Salido - (same) Rnd 4: 10-9 Lopez - (close round but I think Lopez turned it around a bit and started to lane more shots. Rnd 5: 10-9 Lopez - (Salido bossed the round and it looked like Juanma was going until he landed that hook on the turn to put him down and steal it late) Rnd 6: 10-9 Salido - (again dominated putting clever pressure on Lopez throughout) Rnd 7: 10-9 Salido - (more pressure and powerful shots) Rnd 8: 10-9 Salido - (same) Rnd 9: 10-9 Lopez - (round of the year so far. Lopez gave up his plan, fought him head on and managed to get the better of him late in the round but he blew himself out doing so)
Rd 1 Lopez (not much in it tho) Rd 2 Salido Rd 3 Salido Rd 4 Lopez Rd 5 Lopez Rd 6 Salido Rd 7 Salido Rd 8 Salido Rd 9 Even. I'm not splitting them after that epic So very similar to Roe
Tarver, Giampa, everyone had every round for Salido except the round he get knocked down in and he was winning that, so it was a 10-9 round. I had Salido winning every round except one, same as Giampa. Hell, it was not even close. Salido has improved also...........
