Non-mover IMO. Beating the guy below him cements him in his position but doesn't take him over Jones (Karass x2) or Bailey (Bonsu KO1) IMO :good
Pretty much where he is. The win was impressive but it doesn't prove he's better than any of those above him. That said, I am starting to come around to him, with back to back wins in an impressive manner against good, if not outstanding opponents. It is my nature to take the **** when you are ranked #1 in the world by the WBO after beating Philip Kotey, who'd probably have lost to Ronnie Heffron inside the distance.
But Bonsu and Karass were both ranked below the polish guy when they beat them.....and Brook did it far more convincingly than Jones did. Dominant wins over the Rafal Jackiewicz and Lovemore N'Dou take what they have done.
I would say Karass is better than the Polish guy regardless, just by using my eyes. But I see where you're coming from. Jones also has Bruseles ;-)
I, and I think most others, had Soto-Karass winning the first Jones fight so he's getting no credit for that from me.
wouldn't argue too much with him being in the top 10..... he still hasn't faced anyone with any decent offence yet. we'll see how he handles a berto, ortiz or jones. imo he's a better boxer than all of those guys but it's whether he can handle their speed and power.
So, the welterweight division isn't that bad, is it. The likes of Khan, Bradley and Maidana will be moving up, also.
you could say the same about the whole division outside the top 5. its a top heavy division, 2 elite fighters, 3 b class guys and the rest. Not like bantamweight, lightweight or super middle where a guy simular to Brooks level wouldnt be top 10. think maybe some of you are looking the the number and not the resume.
Let's not get excited here. The guy beat a bit of a no hoper. There are two elite fighters in Manny Pac and Floyd Mayweather at the top of the pile, far away better than anyone else. We then have the world class operators, Berto etc. Then there's a few fringe guys, then we have the borderline top ten guys. Brook is Borderline at the moment. That's not to say he won't have success when the others move on. He's good for the sport, best to bide his time for now. He may win a title at 147lbs but he will never be champion whilst you have the likes of FM and MP in this division.
I understand it was a close fight, but he still beat a far better fighter than what Brook did, wether it was close or not he still did. If Brook got in with Soto-Karass and did a similar job/maybe even better than what Jones did then fair enough, but atm' Brook aint fought anybody like Karass
