Nah. Very good chance Lyle would knock him out h2h, but no way can you rank him ahead of Norton. His best wins don't stack up even if you omit Ali from Norton's list. (in fact, Lyle's 3rd-5th or 6th best are guys Norton also beat except they're Norton's 7th-9th best)

I disagree strongly with that. Donald was maybe better than Lyle (except in the power department) but certainly not better than Norton.

For me it comes down to Norton's jab being superior to just about every weapon Donald had.

 

He had ali's number in 2 of 3 fights,young ali beats him all day but what better name to have in your resume.take him out of his win list and it's pretty threadbare I'd say outside top 25

ATG should be reserved for someone outstanding, rather than someone who did something outstanding.

 

Top 20 in terms of skills. Great jab , endurance and left hook. There was too many greats in his era.

He'd be better than 95% of the guys in the post Lewis era.

 

Not that he is atg but are you less of a fighter if you are fighting against legends than if you have let's say a bum a month club ?
