Also don't forget Akinwande, who was larger than Lennox. Lennox is a top 5 heavyweight all time, I consider him possibly top h2h. I would favorite Lennox when he's really on against any heavyweight in history.

Borderline top ten. As this thread demonstrates, Lewis is greatly overrated by many boxing fans. He never faced the other top guys in his era - Holyfield, Tyson and Bowe - when they were at their best. And in the pros, he didn't face Bowe at all.

He is also is the only ATG level HW champ to get taken out twice in the early rounds by second rate contenders like McCall and Rahman. H2H, there are quite a few of the great HW champs who would likely also be able to take advantage of those shaky whiskers.

Ruddock? I would not put him ahead of Vitali, especially considering where each fighter was going into their match with Lewis. Ruddock had already lost twice to Tyson including a KO loss. After Lewis demolished him, he went on to be stopped by Tommy Morrison soon after. Vits only really has the loss to Lennox.

We will have to agree to disagree that Ruddock ranks higher as a win than Vitali, even when considering the controversial way Lewis has that victory.

I don't see why you want to argue that Vitali is not a good win. Are you sure that it is not you who is bitter?

but to answer your serious question - I rate vitali victory lower because vitali actually performed quite well and was not outclassed until he let his guard down going for broke and got his face ripped off. it was not vintage lewis, it was a faded lewis victory that he had to reach for to win. he'd have done much better when prime, making it a good victory.

 

Well mate, you accused me of being bitter for listing Vitali as Lewis' best prime opponent and then go on to claim that a twice beaten Ruddock, who was later stopped by Morrison, as a better win than Vitali.

It just comes off as sounding anti-Vitali. I'm willing to bet that is more likely what you are about as your first post doesn't sound especially pro-Lewis.

So let's see if I understand this correctly. Ruddock, who lost against Tyson x2 was favoured to beat Lewis, and was considered as one of the four best in the division, hence the reason for the tournament, but apparently that doesn't matter.

And Lewis embarrassed himself by pretty much pitching a shut out against Tua but because YOU don't like the way he won it, it doesn't mean anything. Hell Mayweather's whole career is based on outboxing his opponent. And finally Grant fought Golota AFTER Lewis destroyed him, you moron.
