Possibly the greatest H2H heavyweight of all time. IMO, the contender for H2H GOAT who has the best overall ranking. I put him at #4. Fought in one of the most acclaimed eras of HW boxing, and when the dust settled, emerged on top. Beat numerous ATG's, top, touted contenders. Is the only ATG HW I can think of that beat a younger ATG in waiting, who went on to be an ATG after he retired.

That said, there's just an element of blockiness in his record, a lack of the dramatic flow that Ali had. He struggled with some opponents he shouldn't have (Mercer, Mavrovic, Bruno), the moment he truly staked his claim at being a top 15-20 ATG by decisively beating Holyfield, he was bizarrely given a draw (through no fault of his own) and then barely beat him in the return match. The time he should have basked in as a reigning ATG HW champ he got ko'd by someone who appeared to be a routine, unremarkable challenger in Rahman (avenged in the next fight), and then finally, beat his best opponent in the last fight, but in a very unsatisfying manner that left many fans calling for a rematch, which never occurred. He made a ton of money, arguably has the best resume and the best H2H skills of all time, but was never liked nearly as well as some of the earlier ATG's.

I rank him #4 all time, but for a person of his skills and accomplishments, it feels disappointing that there's really no way to rank him #1 (apart from H2H).

Lennox Lewis is NOT an ATG Top 10 Heavyweight.. Lewis never faced any opponents who were not already exposed or on the slide. Lewis was unfortunate to come away with a draw, against Holyfield. Yet it is clear Holyfield was "Robbed" of the decision in their rematch. Lewis was poleaxed TWICE, by mediocre journeymen fighters. Those journeymen, McCall and Rahman were not murderous punchers, they never poleaxed a single opponent , before or after, like they did Lewis.. Lewis only agreed to face Mike Tyson, knowing Tyson was addicted to anti-depressants, alcohol, cannabis and cocaine by 2002. Tyson was like a zombie at that stage of his life, with losses to Williams & McBride proof of Tyson's demise, as the Lewis debacle. Lewis boxing abilities were also very limited. His jab was virtually non-existent and nothing more than a paw. Bruno gave Lewis a lesson in jabbing, as did Ray Mercer. Lewis was a limited boxer with a devastating right-hand. Oliver McCall described Lewis as, "Having two-left feet" or the footwork of a Camel.. Lewis was gifted the decision in his return fight against Holyfield, with most ringside reporters feeling, Holfield was a worthy winner. Lewis went on to be "Stripped" of every version of that title, for refusing to fight the No1 contenders. WBA for refusing to fight John Ruiz. IBF for refusing to fight Chris Byrd. The WBC ordered Lewis to face Vitali Klitschko, Yet Lewis who had promised the entire boxing world, he would face Vitali in a rematch, dragged out his title reign, until 2 days before he was to be stripped of his last remaing belt, he announced his retirement.. If Oliver McCall & Hasim Rahman, can poleaxe Lennox Lewis. Then think what the likes of Foreman, Ali, Louis, Johnson, Tyson, Holmes etc would do to him.

    I've got him at #2.

The only flaws in his legacy apart from his two losses (that he avenged). Is the top heavyweights avoiding him like the plague.

This sentence is what completely destroys your own opinion.

Who paid Lewis $4million dollars on the promise to sit back and unify the WBC/WBA straps?

    Mike Tyson

Who was subsequently stripped off his WBC strap for refusing to fight Lewis after the Bruce Seldon fight?

    Mike Tyson

Who sued Mike Tyson for not fighting him?

    Lennox Lewis

GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT, you Absolute Melt.

Lewis avoided every single fighter throughout the 1990s who held a version of the Heavyweight title. Holmes 92/3, Foreman 94/5, Tyson 96, Moorer 97, Bowe 93 & 95, Hide 96. Lewis also avoided Wladimir 99-03, Sanders 95-03 (Wlad & Sanders fought on several Lewis undercards).. Top contenders Witherspoon 94/5, Ruiz, Byrd were all avoided by Lewis who handpicked, Grant, Botha, Fortune, Morrison, Mavrovic, Briggs, Bruno..

:patschYou MUST be a troll. :D

Bowe was known as THE number 1 heavyweight in 1992. But after Bowe saw what Lewis did to Razor Ruddock (KTFO in 2 rounds), a year after going 12 rounds with Mike Tyson. Bowe refused to fight his mandatory in Lennox Lewis and was subsequently stripped of his WBC title.

I've already told you about Mike Tyson in 1996.

You're just making **** up. Which is OK. I understand the hate. :bbb

Quick question: would you pick any of Holmes 92/3, Foreman 94/5, Tyson 96, Moorer 97, Bowe 93 & 95, Hide 96, Wladimir 99-03, Sanders 95-03 to beat Lewis?

    If so which ones?

Right on the money - Lewis is so overrated by some boxing fans it's not funny. He's borderline top 10 at best. HW GOAT???:lol: That's laughable - he wasn't even the best HW of the era in which he fought (that's Holyfield). Lewis is the ONLY HW champ who was knocked the **** out twice by mediocre B level fighters like McCall and Rahman, and he never fought any of the top fighters in his era when it mattered. Holyfield was past it when Lewis faced him, and still arguably won the second fight. Tyson was totally washed up. And he never faced Bowe at all. Lewis is an ATG, yes, but belongs nowhere near as high on HW ATG lists as some put him.:deal

Mike Tyson didn't pay Lewis anything , it was Don King.

King was setting up a fight with Holyfield , which was much bigger and a more in demand fight than Lewis was.
Lewis had the option to to refuse the step aside money , but chose to accept it and then went and fought the MaCall rematch for half the money he would have made with Tyson.

Lewis only sued Tyson in 2003 after he already beat him. He wanted to suck another pay day out of Tyson's corpse. It was embarrassing.

Ask yourself why he didn't make such efforts to fight Tyson back in 1996..
