Most people would obviously put Browne below Whyte, Ortiz and Yoka but is this version of Lucas Browne better or worse than Lenroy Thomas? What do you guys think?
Never rated him as a boxer but he's always seemed a top bloke, shame his career was derailed by Hatton and the drugs business post Chagaev.
Every fighter cant be the best .It would be boring if you watched the very best in history every weekend He comes over here and there is a demand for him . You have to give him credit and if he is on the slide and is still willing to come here . Then it would good to see him in evenly matched fights on the under cards !
Nice bloke, has power...been in some entertaining fights...won’t be remembered for years to come but won a version of the heavyweight title which is impressive considering his limitations. Achieved more than 90% do in the sport... Will watch him on the undercards if he does carry on but think he should retire.
But he isn't on the slide, he is shot to pieces. He only coming here for the money and I don't knock him for that, but he is getting older and has a family he has to think of. Either way good luck to the geezer.
The only time he looked good was when he was on roids vs Chagaev. He won a gift decision vs Rudenko and Whyte nearly killed him. Dave Allen is a journeyman himself and beat a shot to bits corpse when he beat Browne. Lucas Browne is shot to pieces.
To be fair technically he's a pretty decent fighter. Certainly better than Allen. Unfortunately he's old, fat, slow and after a few rounds his stamina makes him vulnerable to a knockout. I think against a non puncher he can put on a good show still... for a while....but his punch resistance is in decline now.
He could be a gatekeeper going forward but I’m not sure if he’d fancy that role. If he was based over here I’d give him a go at punditry especially for Heavyweight fights. Alas he’s based in Australia where not much of note happens at least on a world level.
Gatekeeper level is the only way of him making a living out of the sport from now on but he'll get badly hurt if he starts taking on young prospects. He wants Tom Little apparently but even that's a 50/50 fight imo.
