I think there is only one thing Enzo can do and that is make the rematch with Ola asap...whatever the cost... That's going to be the quickest way of getting back on track... Get the fight made for the summer and even go to the states if needs be... Other than that he can no longer fight cans... He's really going to have to earn his right for a title shot now and unless he rematches Ola I can't see it happening for a while... Enzo should not have lost that fight... Before the KO Ola had only won the 3rd round...if he had paced himself properly and prepared properly he would have coasted to a decision victory... Does anyone think the rematch is realistically going to get made?
He needs to get out of the Enzo Calzaghe gym and into a decent one where the trainer has a clue what he is doing and there are some decent boxers of his weightclass or around it to spar with. Then he can think about what to do next.
Enzo should have won that fight. He could have thrown half as many punches and still won all those rounds, thus not leaving himself so tired that he might get caught with a ridiculous punch. That loss was completely unavoidable.
He's finished at a world level. Gassed very badly last night. Punched himself out. Needs to get a new trainer and a conditioning coach and quite possibly a new promoter. He'd fought a total of 2 rounds in 12 months prior to last night and it showed.
if you meant avoidable then i totally 100% agree.. and i think he beats ola in a rematch with a good trainer... but, why would ola fight him again ??
Money... But I guess he will get much more for a title shot and could he even beat ramirez and have several more paydays on the cards...
You never know Colin Jones has trained Enzo Maccarenellis mate Scott Gammer (a British Heavyweight Champion ) So it is not impossible Colin Jones could train Enzo Macc. Colin Jones runs the boxing shed - and if he did train Enzo Macc - he might come down to my garden shed for a few training sessions. Unlikely - but you never know :think
Another fighter who trained at the boxing shed behind my garden was Floyd Havard (former British Super Featherweight Champion and IBF World title challenger) Remeber him GazOC?
that dosent go on in boxing gyms - Macca was doing that in a nightclub But no doubt Colin Jones has fought at World title level and has experience that could benefit any fighter - and now he trains fighters too
