Obviously this has been done before, obviously this is gonna blow up in my face and I get called a Mayweather fanboy or hater or whatever, but **** it. Hey-ho!

Where does Mayweather rank among the ATGs, in a H2H P4P sense?

Weird question I know, but in terms of ability (not achievements) at his absolute best, he's up with the absolute peak of the sport. Despite the gimmicks of his '50-0' fanboys and TBE marketing, he was genuinely a truly special fighter at 130/135. So, where does he rank?

I will say, this is sorta inspired by a conversation I had in a deleted thread this morning. I'll make a list myself, but to sample what you lot think I'll wait first.

    Bon Voyage muh'****as!

Wherever you feel he was best, compared to everyone in history, on a pound for pound scale. If that makes sense.

Basically, base it on ability at his best, then decide you think was better from any weight class.

My pick is Duran, I've wrote extensively why.

Great h2h fighter because he was complete with no real glaring flaws with arguably the best defense in boxing history and an atg boxing mind.

From 130-140 i would probably favor him against any boxer in history with a few exceptions and those would be pick em fights.

147 still elite but more beatable, size mainly. A guy like hearns for example would beat him. Srr would own him.

154 his worst weight great but not neatly as good as he was at 147. Many atgs at that weight would beat him there.

Overall id say top 20 atg at worst and at best top 15 atg. Best fighter of the era and a stylistic nightmare for most fighters.

Hard to say because he was too much for the guys he fought at 130, but most of them were cans. And the few that were not cans were not great fighters. 135 was more of the same, but Castillo showed he doesn't like pressure.

    Oof, I have him 22.

But I basically agree with your assessment. I'd pick few guys over him, and even then, it's style reasons.

    Who did you have winning?

I genuinely think Mayweather went undefeated his whole career, and didn't need judges for anything.

Pretty damn high at his best weights (and number one at 130 head-to-head IMO). I wont get into who I'd favor over him, but if you are going to actually beat him, you better be top-shelf all-time elite at 130-140, or else have significant size advantages at 147. His reflexes, speed, defense, counters, fast-twitches, and ability to constantly give different looks would be hell for many of the greats. It totally throws people off their game. The guy was a genius.

H2H, it's hard to find many fighters who can compete him at 130. Above 130, he would be favored against most of the ATGs.

At 135, I pick Duran over him H2H.

At 140, I see him struggling with Tszyu and Pryor. I think he would lose to Pryor based on styles. Tsyzu was really good against boxers, so I see him giving Mayweather fits and beating him.

At 147, I'd favor Leonard, Hearns, Robinson and Duran over him. The first 3 have a number of advantages over him, like height and reach. Duran's pressure would overwhelm him.

For me, the top 4 are set in stone. Duran, Robinson, Charles and Pep are my picks for the four best fighters ever, in terms of ability and what they could do in the ring. It's after where it becomes hard, and I think this is where you could put Mayweather at his highest. Personally, I'd put Harada, Jofre, Moore and Napoles above him. Sweet Pea, Gomez, Canto, Ali and Leonard are all up there with him. I can see him above or below those.

At 130, I'd only favour Saddler over him. Chávez was too green at this point, he peaked as he got higher.

At 135, I'd pick Durán, Armstrong, Chávez and Whitaker over him.

At 140, I pick Chávez and Napoles, Pryor was bad for him, but I just don't think he was good enough. Argüello couldn't miss with that right hand.

Some 50/50s would be Chavez at SFW, Williams and Jack at LW, Cervantes and Benítez at 140.

So in total, below 147 I have 6 men beating him, 5 50/50s, and can see him slotted anywhere below 5, but would personally have him in the 10-15 range on a whim. Hardly poor.

I do agree with the general opinions on Floyd. Top 3 defence ever, amazing feet, brain and jab along with a tough chin and workman like stamina. He also has some freakish reach, and was very athletic. I talked to @Pimp C a couple months back and he made a really good point about how Mayweather would have a hard time with elite boxers, who were better athletes, since he wouldn't be the quicker guy. I agreed with him, hence why I think Napoles and Whitaker beat him.

I don’t know, but very, very high.

In terms of ability, he has to be one of the greatest fighters of all time.

Whenever I rank someone, I always rank them on H2H ability as well as resume.
