Top five at 154. McCallum, Hearns, Norris, Winky, and Oscar. I think McCallum was the best at that weight. Too bad he never got to fight the big four and prove it.

He didn't fight that long at Middleweight to put him in the top ten but he certainly gave a prime Toney all he could handle and was capable of beating just about anyone.

Not as highly as he thinks he should.

Very very crafty old fashioned style fighter. Had all the skills. At the top of the list at 154. I just hope people refrain from saying he got the best of Hearns in the sparring clip as it comes up every time. See even I mentioned it lol. Hearns clearly controlled that session but it's just sparring.
I think he was a pretty great fighter though.

Mike would be unstoppable if he was around today. Imagine Canelo if he had legs and the endurance to sustain an attack for all 3mins of every round. He'd almost be as good as McCallum.

I think Hearns beating Duran and Benitez at the weight makes him the top at that weight. You cannot get better at that weight than that.

No doubt! Hearns was an absolute monster at 154. Unfortunately we will never know who would have won between Hearns and McCallum. Would have been a hell of a fight.

I rate him top 5 best of his era at 154. Top 10 ATG @ 154.

    Top 20 @ 160 during his era. Doesn't make ATG @ MW.

a great matchup. I tend to think Hearns eeks out a decision with his speed at that weight.

I slightly lean the other way with McCallum wearing Hearns down with his sustained body attack. McCallum had a hell of chin. Outside of Toney, I don't recall ever seeing McCallum hurt. It really would have been a pickem fight. Tommy probably should be considered number one at 154. He sure did crush Duran.

I think Hearns was better at 154 than later on after Hagler knocked him out. I think he could outbox Mike and win a decision with his speed. He was faster than Mike, Mike had great inside punching instincts.

Agree that Mc Callum ranks TOP 5 at 154 pounds. At 160' I am not sure he cracks the TOP 20 as this division is historically very strong.

Plus I feel Mike was much quicker at 154lbs and he had more KO`s, his body had more definition and stuff.

At 154 no fighter I've seen is better than Hearns. But Mike Mccallum easily makes the top 5, probably top three at that weight.

Mike Mccallum is James Toney with less flash (and more consistency)
