Where does Mitchell Murray sit in the modern greats?

  1. Top ten defo.
People need to remember what Mitchell did:
Came back on STYLE from a crushing ko loss.
    Defeated an unbeaten European champion.
    Stopped him.
Say what you like about Murray, but when people moan about him it's only because they think he can't be an elite level boxer. Not many can!! Murray was and is no mug. Has a style of fighting that he might not change now, but had enough in his locker to give Mitchell some wobbly moments too. However Mitchell did all you can ask of him. Came in top shape, motivated and obviously he'd dedicated himself this time. His boxing skills shone through, his uppercuts were devastating and Murray is no Prescott (he's better!)
The ending was dramatic and what was captivating about it was as much as Mitchell was dominating towards the end you just knew in the back of your mind Murray had enough power if used properly to swing things back in his favour.
Definate classic one of the British fights of the year no doubt. I'd love to see them do it again!!!!

Great fight, watched it 3 times already, no point in a rematch though, Mitchell would just finish it earlier. Murray has always been 1 dimensional, it was obvious from his previous fight where he was outboxed but managed to sneak the W, Hopefully he can regain the Euro and make some decent money.

I think he'd be less effective up at LWW, his strength and the way he bullies his opponent in the ring is his best weapon and I feel that would be negated against bigger opposition. I think he has a future in the sport and could be a fringe belt holder but there is no way he keeps hold of it for long. :-(

If you're prepared to go back a bit Colin Dunne vs Billy Schwer back in 2000 was a real *******. Murray vs Mitchell was a fantastic fight, but it's not up there with Moore vs Macklin imo.
