If I'm Ortiz, Id call out Whyte/Browne or Povetkin/Price winner. Either of these is a good money fight he'd probably win, regain a number 1 mandatory spot, and set himself up for one more title challenge/payday before retirement.

If Charr-Oquendo falls through (watch it), he should try to fight Charr. If Charr/Oquendo actually happens, then Joshua and the winner will be tied up fighting each other so the WBA route won't be there for him.

So the answer is basically to do what Haymon tells him to do. They may decide that a rematch is worth it given how good the fight and decent live gate/TV numbers were. Otherwise, Brezeale will probably fight Wilder next. Ortiz might be able to fight Miller on the undercard of that.

The issue with Miller is that he tends to fight stiffs. If he won't fight Ortiz, then Ortiz will probably be delegated to fighting guys like Washington and Duhaupas on Haymon undercards until either a bigger fight comes along or he fades into obscurity.

If he gets lucky, Povetkin will ship him to Moscow. Povetkin might want to wait for Joshua given his WBA position though.

He should fight the loser of Joshua-Parker... who will obviously be Parker!

Agree, Charr has NO BUSINESS having any belt, even if it's a fake belt... I hate that guy

I don't see Whyte or Povetkin facing Ortiz they are each lined up to fight Wilder and Joshua.

    Ortiz beats both.

As many stated no one will be lining up to fight him, his best bet a few tune ups and stay active BC he may be Joshua mandatory again.

His biggest mistake was not staying active in the first place. I think we'll see a sharper Ortiz next time around. People have to remember its his first real fight at HW and hes NOT on his death bed.............:jump1:

Id love to see him in with the winner of browne whyte... or in with haye if haye wins impressively, as comeback fights.

A fight with Povetkin gets me pumped up.

A showdown with the loser of AJ vs Parker also makes sense and would be awesome.

I have a feeling though he might get frozen out of the picture.

This seems like the most logical move. It could also potentially set up another big fight - AJ or maybe even Fury.

fight christain hammer as a tuneup then perhaps povetkin(but i doubt povetkin will risk his #1 wba ranking to fight a non ranked wba fighter and now probably a #8 ranked wbc fighter) .....then another title shot once parker/joshua/wilder clears up

Shame Browne has Dillian Whyte, though the winner of Whyte vs Browne would be a cool pairing. Ortiz would bash either of them

Contenders out of the WBC rankings ain't gonna make a fight.
Maybe he can get a few undercard showcase fights, but after this payday is a 100k fight worth it. He should take his money and get a construction business going so he can spend more time with the family.

    His problem is his age.

A bit better conditioning and he would likely have beaten Wilder.

I think he should get himself out again as soon as possible and then line himself up as an opponent for Fury in the future.

Good chance of beating Ortiz too tbh. Joshua hits hard no doubt, but Wilder's one punch power is on a different level.

Ortiz is still high risk low award opponent. Even more now after the loss. I don't think that Povetkin or any of the contenders wants to fight him now. Let alone Joshua or Parker. And I honestly think that Ortiz would beat all of them but Joshua.
