Where does Pacquiao rank all time?

He is ranked bottom of the list at a gay pride rally but top of the list at a shooting gallery.

 

And we will still probably not see anyone meeting or eclipsing it in my lifetime.

 

50-75 seems about right, its all subject to how you personally view his wins etc

 

Who can honestly say that they know enough about the 100 greatest boxers in history to know where he should rank?

For me personally I would probably say that he's the best I've seen since Duran or Chavez.

He surely ranks quite highly given his resume and achievements.

 

Quite a few posters on here have compiled a top 100 list and in sure each one can argue the position they have for each fighter.

 

Yeah. It all depends on your taste of fighters really.

 

In context, who from 147 right now is going to fight anyone worthwhile? Pac's resume is the last of the throwbacks to the days when fighters actually fought each other and the obvious, and they actually fought in the ring. The future of boxing now is bleak with all the protected fighters.

 

However, being legitimate champion at FLW, FW and now WW is astonishing.

 

I know that's true, full credit to those guys, but I seriously doubt it applies to most posters.

I've been into boxing most of my life, but I freely admit that I don't know enough about all the great boxers to rank Pacquiao's ATG status with certainty.

It's a pretty subjective debate in any case.

Best I can say about Pacquiao is that his legacy makes him the greatest of his era. As I mentioned above he probably belongs somewhere between Chavez and Duran; two fighters I do know a lot about.

 

Take away the belts. He still beat those men. Its funny when people say Pacquiao is around 40-50 when he savaged Barrera, Cotto, Ledwaba, Morales, Hatton.

 

Duran = 5
Pacquiao = 21
Chavez = 25

 

Probably; maybe. Who's to say for sure?

I sometimes think that Duran gets slightly over rated and that Chavez gets slightly under rated overall but the figures you quote are likely close enough.

Pacquiao is surely up there somewhere.

 

No one can say for sure, but I can say in my rankings that's where they reside.

Duran was untouchable at 135 and then beat Leonard. I rate Leonard incredibly highly and seeing him neutralised in his prime was incredible.

Chavez probably would have been better facing Pea earlier in his career were he might be able to impose his will, that victory would have enhanced his legacy tenfold.
