Where does Povetkin rank in the top 10 hws?

Povetkin IS a great fighter.

 

I don't understand that post.
An underfeated amateur superstar who KOd a contender, how many contenders have Ibragimov and the not-so-hardhitting Chagaev stopped.

 

Povetkin is the No.1 of the non-titlists.

He is defintely above guys like Peter, Thompson, Brock or Chambers.

I could maybe agree with him if he were talking about Solis, that guy needs some roadwork & a stricter diet.

 

:? He beat Byrd by TKO, which is no easy task & he basically shut out Larry Donald who is a good boxer. That rates better than Tony Thompson's win over Krasniqi doesn't it? Chambers has no real big names in his win column either..............

 

Quality of opposition. No losses or close/disputable decisions.

Keep in mind that all those rankings are from October 15th, which is before Povetkin beat Byrd by TKO.

He should then be ranked as high as #4 in the IBF HW Rankings and probably crack the top 10 for Fightnews.

 

Donald is old but was an excellent win for a guy with 12 pro bouts.

Chris Byrd is one of the most outstanding and relevant heavyweight boxers of the last decade.

Both wins are good. Added to Povetkin's skills, I think he deserves a Top10 ranking.

 

I think Povetkin should be rated about 5th.

Povetkin arguably could be higher based on how badly he dominated Byrd. But overall he's one fight away from cementing his status as a top 5 heavyweight. His next fight against Brock/Chambers should place him squarely higher than Valuev in terms of accomplishments, as well as Ibragimov (should Ibragimov not fight Waldo).
