I think it started off well, it launched a few careers - Rogan, Sexton & Casey and resurected a few - Rees (and almost Hide, he was unlucky with the cut and really should have won the tournament). Unfortunatley a few fighters have entered it half hearted and haven't taken it seriously - Corbett & McBride. If they continue it in its current form they should try and do it less often and have it as a purley novice type pro tournament i.e. just guys with less than 5 fights. That way your looking at real raw talent. Not sure if that would be as profitable though and at the end of the day Hearn has to pay his bills. I think it's the seasoned pro's that have kind of ruined it. Alternatively, they could have a knockout tournament but not on the same night. The quarter final bouts one nite, the semis 2 months later and the final 2 months later again. I reckon the tournament in it's current form could be moved abroad and marketed well. I could see the K1 Japanese fans liking it.
This would be a far more interesting. It would also build fighters profile more too. Finding the prospects willing to compete might be another thing though...
I enjoy the fact its not big names , some journey men and a few up and comers going in the ring to slug and semi-box . I think most of the armchair fans know this when they are going to watch it. It gets boxing on the TV for a night and the event is usualy decent . At least hes trying to get people interested.
