I think it's over for Hatton. I'd like to see him retire, there is no use fighting hype-job Khan because even a washed up Hatton will expose fraudulent Amir with his glass jaw, and when Khan is knocked out in the first few rounds Hatton will understandably get no credit for it.

My problem with Hatton retiring now, is that he's only 30. What is he going to do for the rest of his life without preparing for fights? We all know he likes a beer and balloons after a fight, so is he going to be disciplined enough to stay in shape? I think it could be worse retiring at 30 than if he carries on boxing against lesser opponents.

Where does he go from here?

    2 main questions:
Where CAN he go from here, after a big KO loss, a long career, and losing his titles, and
Where does he want to go from here?

PacMan, although early in his career, had exactly two clean KO losses, Barrera had two too after Jones and PacMan, yet managed to come back and beat Morales, so anything can happen. You are not done because of one or a few losses. At least he was caught clean and caught early, not badly beat up like Barrera or David Diaz, it's LESS damage actually. Confidence can be built up again, but question two comes up: does he want to go back to the drawing board and work his way back up? Or have a farewell fight vs. a 140 champ, Bradley or the Khan superfight if he wins vs. Kotelnik, and hang 'em up? Or retire immediately? Tough question for him and his family.

I don't think that the UK PPV record holder would want to go back for low-money fights and confidence builders, so I'd say Khan at Wembley in front of 90.000 or Bradley if he choses Roach to train him, which is on the table according to inside rumors.

One thing is for sure: whether it's now or in one/few more fights, this great person will go out with all the support and love he deserves and gets. But he's in a very tough situation. 'What's next' has never been that tough for Ricky.

Well first - Mayweather didnt KO him cleanly.
turn buckle pole helped. but that just doesn't matter.

Ricky had at one time set a limit on the # of fights he had left.
He passed that already so hopefully he will retire.

he needs to hang them up. the 2 superfights he was in (money and pac) he lost his composure completely. From the 1st 10 seconds you could see all the stuff he'd been working on went out the window. Very sad. Still gutted to be honest. Love ya hitman but its time to say goodbye.

    1. He could repeat the Lazcano>Malignaggi>KTFO path for a 2nd time.

    2. He could have a farewell fight against a nobody in Manchester.

    3. He could have a farewell fight against Khan or ODLH at Wembley.

    4. He could stick around the domestic/fringe world scene for a few more paydays.

    5. He could retire.

I'm just wondering as he was the champ, does he have a "rematch" clause...if so will he take it up?

Hmm interesting! Not sure anyone would want to see that though, and no one is calling it a freak result to justify it.

I actually have a feeling that Hatton is going to come out with a load of stories about the terrible training camp, how he was in the wrong frame of mind and got the tactics all wrong etc. and demand a rematch so he can 'redeem himself', which means he will probably last a little longer this time.

 god I hope not, I can just see it, there's too much money to be made. Hatton vs Khan at Wembley, biggest Sky Box Office event ever for Ricky to be champion again then the De La Hoya for both of their farewells in a glorified sparring match.

He can still make millions fighting nobodies, of course he'll continue to fight and earn EZ money.

Thing is, no matter who ricky fights from here on (if he does) his style and how to catch him has been exposed (as roach said in the post fight interview in the ring) so he would need a total revamp of his style of fighting and discipline.

hatton should retire! there isnt much left if he cant compete at the top level.
The question is will hattons pride allow him to be knocked into retirement by another fighter?

I think he will call it a day.

He reminded me of Riddick Bowe in the Golota fights.....
