Top 10 definitely. Pretty much everyone agrees ray robinson is top, but after that it's very open. On a good day, you could give him second. But definitely top 10. And if he isn't top 10, then he is top 15. And if he isn't top 15, he's top 20. If he isn't top 20 at the very very least...then there's something wrong with you.
Being dominant and proving himself at multiple weights. Beating Hopkins and Toney shows he can face the very best opposition. Winning multiple world titles, dominance year on year. One of the best prime fighters ever, if not the best. Has all the attributes. Decent chin, good power, amazing speed and reflexes, a great brain. As I said, I personally think top 10, but top 15 or top 20 is acceptable too. Anything lower than top 20 though and I think that's silly. He deserves top 20 at the very minimum.
He was sensational at his peak. Untouchable. But does nobody think his reputation was damaged by his failed drug test?
Hes in my Top 10. A Roy Jones Jr on his best day, it would take somebody of ATG Top 10 calibre too beat him. I would of loved to of seen Calzaghe on his best night vs Roy Jones on his best Night for the Greatest SMW/LHW of all time in my opinion. Shame the youth of today will hear about RJJ and look him up on boxrec and see his record and think, he aint that great. Thank God for youtube highlight reels.
Somewhere in the top 20, he was sensational in his prime. Sadly for fighters like Roy who rely on their reflexes, there's a fine line between prime and retirement.
