I read someone ranked him in the Top15. Is he close? His reign has been solid.

I have not followed Martinez so much.

However, heard that several of his recent opponents were in The Ring's Top10. If he beat Chavez Jr, then it will look better.

Several of his last opponents weren't even middleweights.

If he beats Chavez JR and then another 1-2 good fighers (GGG, pirog, Sturm) then his stock will improve dramatically.

His reign has been solid? No, his reign has been lackluster, mediocre at best. His two best wins were over an alcoholic and clearly on the downslide Pavlik, and Paul Williams, who in hindsight wasn't that good. Martinez has feasted on lower tier top 10-15 guys, and avoided every real middleweight who has talent. Even if he beats Chavez Jr. it won't mean much for his reign at 160. He has refused to fight Pirog, Golovkin, N'Jkam, and every other 160 pounder with a pulse.
