Sugar Shane Was 1 Of The Greatest Lightweights Ever...

At Lightweight He Fought Many Top Contenders At The Time. He Showed Alot Of Skill, Technique, Speed, Stamina, And Hed Mix It Up Sometimes For The Fans. He Was Undefeated.

At Welterweight He Moved Up 2 Weight From 135lbs To 147lbs And Beat A Prime Oscar De La Hoya Without A Tune Up Fight...he Beat An Undefeated Shannan Taylor. When He Fought Forrest He Lost The First Fight Hands Down But Showed He Could Adjust The 2nd Fight--he Lost The 2nd Fight Easily Also But It Was Much More Competitve...

At 154 He Fought Winky And Lost Easily In The 1st Fight But Showed He Could Somewhat Adjust As A Boxer And Did A Little Better The 2nd Fight...

Today At 36 Hes Still A Top 5 Contender At 147 In A Very Deep Division

Id Place Him In My Top 40

Mosley was one of the most physically gifted (and big) lightweights ever, but it's not like he faced a lot of quality opposition there.

Talent alone doesn't make you one of the greatest ever at a historic division like 135. You need to beat better opposition or reign for a long time and at least beat the best guys around the division at the time.

Mosley had a couple of fights at 147 before DLH. The Rivera fight was a decent win, and then Mosley destroyed an overmatched Wise. Beating DLH was a very impressive performance. Shannon was undefeated but also untested. Decent win for Mosley.

Mosley did improve in the rematches with Wright and Forrest. I thought he fought fairly well in the Wright rematch despite losing.

I'd like for his career to be over and to do more research before I do my all-time rankings.

He's probably outside the top 50 though, maybe outside the top 75 as well. His resume of quality wins outside DLH is rather thin.

Top 50, the steroid accusations kinda tarnish him a little.

He's a hall of famer to be sure.

He's not even an ATG, not even top 100. The claims of him being top 30-40 are absurd to the highest degree. All that shows is a severe lack of boxing knowledge. HOF'er sure, I like the guy too, but gimme a break.

I could name at least 40-50 off the top of the head that very clearly rank much higher all time.

Shane Mosley still has an opportunity to put himself amongst the top 50 fighters in history, he is still an active fighter after all, but as things stand, he's about top 100.

He would probably be in a similar category to Tszyu, on the very fringes of top 100, if at all.

It's the exact opposite. Those who feel he ranks as an ATG or top 50 or so are the ones with extremely narrow and limited views, caused by simple lack of knowledge.

A Bantamweight like Pete Herman from the 10's and 20's, whom none of you have ever heard of, is about on the same level as Shane in an all time sense. You guys love him as a fighter and grew up watching him, which is why you rate him so highly. No just reasons aside from the fact that your knowledge of boxing history is so basic that you don't have a legitimate perspective to begin with.
