The funny thing is from all this, you guys act like you are not allowed to use tape..lol. You are not allowed to tape accross the knuckles. AND NO, titos power in his punches which you can see the ****ing snap and speed in which he threw, did not come from some ****ing hand wrap. You guys are ****ing ******ed. He may try to protect his hands more but he would have to load his gloves to actually have the kind of impact you are talking about. Not the ****ing hand wrap.

Hamed's power did seem the most bizarre. I agree on that. Some of the punches he scored knockdowns and knockouts with were short little shovel shots that came from either hand. Obviously he put them right on the chin generally, but the power itself behind them was cartoonish.

thats true but 'coming to america' and sparking quality fighters can put things into perspective sometimes. after saying that the junior jones fight was awesome - but there remains a stigma about british fighters who make their name in their own country.

and i doubt that will change while people like frank warren and calzaghe are around.

Hamed's legs were really overdeveloped. Like someone shot him full of steroids in his legs. I remember watching him in his prime thinking his legs looked ridiculous on his small upper body.

Nobody said that you aren't allowed to use tape. What was said is that you are not allowed to layer tape and gauze. And like you said, no tape over the knuckles.

Why you think that has no effect on punching power is crazy. It's obvious you've never been hit by someone with a cast on.

If I remember right the allegations were that tito basically made a "cast" out of his handwrapps using wet gauze, tape, etc. Having a hardened cast under the glove would be an advantage: a) you don't ever have to worry about hurting your hands and can go all "out"; b) the hand will be heavier and more dense. I doubt it accounts for all of his power, but if true it would explain a fair amount of it.

    It was a big deal.

For one the chief cornerman Bouie Fischer was supposed to be on hand for the hand wrappings. When he arrived in Tito's dressing room the left had already been wrapped and the glove was on. He then complained to the official on hand and the official told him no, that he would not have to rewrap his hand so Bouie could see.

Bouie then went to the head commissioner and complained. Then I'm sure they told him if Tito did not rewrap that left that Hopkins wouldn't be fighting. When the head commissioner arrived in Tito's room he told him rewrap or no fight. Bouie noticed that when the glove came off the hand was wrapped like a cast. He then watched as Felix Sr rewrapped the hand and noticed right away that he was using tape over the knuckles and was layering tape over gauze, tape over gauze, tape over gauze. This was a big no no and the NYSAC was forced to correct Felix Sr.

They probably pulled the same **** with the Vargas and Joppy and Reid camps. And they got away with it, obviously. Infact who knows he might have been doing that **** for his whole career.

His power is still unteasted at the higher level, but Froch doesn't look like big hitter at all, but he can bang.

Com on with the ridiculous "handwrap" ****. There was nothing illegal about his handwraps. Tito has some 50 fights, you think he got away with 50 illegal handwraps. I have seen his hands get wrapped. There is nothing illegal about it. A hand wrap does nothing more than protect the hands. I am sure a good wrap adds a little to the impact, but it doesn't make a non puncher a puncher. Tito could hit. Period. Perfect punching mechanics, starting in his stance and legs. Torsoe rotaions. Perfect alignment of fist, aligned with wrist, aligned with forearm, aligned with elbow.

You can soak a wrapped hand in water for a year. It will NEVER turn it into a cast. Where do you come up with this ****. Layering tape and gauze does nothing either. The best thing you can do is a good tight wrap that supports the wrist, and protects the face of the knuckles. Wrapping to tight around the hand compimises the fighters ability to make a tight fist is. Making a tight fist is was truly delivers the impact of the punch. PERIOD! THE END!
