It'll happen, unless danny pulls out. Thurman has shown that he's willing to get in there with the killers at 147, Danny proved that at 140, but since Herrera, hasn't shown that.
I liked Porter vs Thurman more than Kov vs Ward. Porter vs Thurman is a hard fight to score and I could see it either way. The only thing that bothered me was that it was a UD since you can definitely make a case for Porter winning or even a draw.
Scoring at the end of the day is subjective, I had a clear Thurman win, if I thought it was controversial like Ward/Kova I would have rewatched it, I rewatched Ward/Kova 3 times.
I don't doubt the willingness of either guy. I doubt the promoter. I'll believe it when I see both guys step in the ring, but I would love to see this matchup.
Haymon let's the best fight the best, it's really up to the fighters. You can blame Haymon for letting his top fighters have the option of choosing what they want, but facts are when his fighters WANTED the top guy, he hasn't had any objection.
Clear? Whaaat? I had Thurman winning my first viewing of the match, but I flip-flop on that one a lot. I can't give that fight to either man clearly. It was on of my favorite bouts of 2016. I've seen it a few times and have watched it with a few friends that don't really like boxing to get them introduced to the sport.
I'll rewatch it, I remember having it clear. But like I said boxing scoring is subjective, I really like clean effective punching. This bodes well for Thurman and awful for Porter on my scorecards because Porter is not a clean effective puncher.
His work is smothered at times, but he did hurt Thurman badly throughout that fight making Thurman literally turn around and run away from him, only for Porter to pounce right back on his ass.
He did that in 1rd to Thurman with a body punch lol, it wasn't a common occurrence. The only time Thurman actually seemed hurt was that rd. I mean Thurman's left hooks were landing flusssssssh on him. It was actually beautiful, can't believe Porter took those.
Well some places already have One Time rank in the lower 10 P4P for some reason, but I think a win does more for Garcia especially if he wins in impressive fashion Unified/Lineal JWW Champ, following that up with being Unified WW Champ despite some close fights I don't think you can hate on the kid. Thurman for all his hype is still rather untested, and has looked shaky vs his best names in Porter & Guerrero. I'd expect Thurman to enter as the favorite and has more to prove with the criticisms of Danny, Keith has a lot of pressure to not look bad in this fight. I don't know if either should be P4P ranked unless a great KO happens but one could set himself up as a potentially dominate WW Champ in this Gen, the other could see themselves as a near HOF level Great so really excited for this bout.
