Lavigne is probably the most under rated lightweight today. Some lightweights of that era have seen their records weather better than others, and he has been one of the loosers.
He did. I believe he gave Lavigne the prop in the 1890s. Apparently by 1906 he changed his tune. Either way, it gives you an idea of how highly regarded Lavigne was by his pugilistic peers.
Kid Lavigne was a top fighter of his day, i struggle to see him performing against the likes of Benny Leonard , Sweat Pea or Duran but can imagine he would do well against a lot of other top lightweights. His brother Billy done some form of management work for Tommy Burns too, well i think i read that some where maybe its one of those random things that pops into my head that i have never read before, if only i was a more avid googler then i could say that with more confidence.
