Where does this misconception come from that Cotto has never called Floyd out?

Mayweather, Cotto Camps Trade Verbal Blows

The heat is on for a unification bout between the two top welterweights in the sport, Floyd Mayweather Jr. (39-0, 25KOs, WBC champion) and Miguel Cotto (31-0, 25KOs, WBA champion). Both camps camps have different views on the fight being made.

Mayweather, following his knockout win over Ricky Hatton last Saturday in Las Vegas, announced that he would take a long vacation from the sport, one which could last as long as two-years, according to Mayweather.

Leonard Ellerbe, Mayweather's advisor, doesn't dispute that Cotto is a good fighter, but tells The Times that that Cotto still lacks the star power to bring big money to the table. According to the paper, Cotto's pay-per-view with Shane Mosley generated a buyrate near 360,000, a far number from Mayweather-De La Hoya, which generated well over over 2 million buys.

Ellerbe: "A lot of people will be asking, 'Who is he?' He's a very good fighter, a warrior, but not enough people know him."

There are a lot of people that seem to think that Cotto did nothing to try an make the Mayweather fight Im saying that he did try to make a fight with Mayweather as those articles i posted would suggest.

Mayweather has been ignoring call outs since he was 130 pound champ. When Casamayor was still undefeated , he called Floyd out. So did Margarito. Floyd has selective hearing though.

How's Floyds supposed to know he's being called out if he doesn't even speak Puerto Rican.

Im not trying to **** on Mayweather here im just stating that Cotto was very interested in making a fight with Mayweather that's all and he let it be known and Mayweather did hear him and replied to Cotto on several occasions.

Cotto didn't let it be known to Larry Merchant and Max Kellerman.

    He could have said ...

"sure..I'd love to fight Floyd Mayweather"..but he couldn't even do that.:-(

Please he already knew Cotto wanted to fight him but he chose to "retire". Even if Cotto called him out the way you say, Floyd wouldn't
have fought him and his others interviews prove this. Floyd had NO interest in fighting Cotto even when so many people wanted to see the two
top undefeated welters go at it.
