Well cruiserweight has only been around for like 30 years, even Leon Spinks is probably floating somewhere about #12...

Brewster is 10X the fighter Rahman could ever dream of being and Corrie Sanders is arguably better overall than McCall. Purrity chin< McCalls.:deal

Brewster had better durability than Rahman, but he was not as skilled, did not have the jab Rahman did, and it's arguable his right hand was just as devastating as Brewster's left hook. It's a little ridiculous calling Brewster 10x the fighter Hasim was.

True. Being an ATG cruiserweight is not like being an ATG middleweight or heavyweight.

Actually Purrity fought to draw with Sedreck Fields and Fields arguably beat McCall. But that was after McCall smashed Lewis' magic "disarticulating" jaw.:yep

McCall beat both Lewis and Holmes. Does this make him ATG? :huh

I put him in between 11-15. More towards the latter end of the scale.

Honestly in terms of H2H he's certainly in the top 10 and in terms of career achievements he's moving up. That said he'll have a hard time cracking the top 10 he's got 3 bad losses and his opposition has been weak. The last one isn't his fault but people still judge boxers by the quality of their opponents.

:happy:happy:thumbsupThat's where I place him too. Wlad towers over all past greats in height but also size and strength. 6foot 6 inch Tony Thomson talked candidly of how Wlad would literally toss him around the ring like a "ragdoll" during sparring sessions years ago. He couldn't believe Wlad's raw physical strength. Wlad has a world class power left jab like Holmes had. It doesn't just disrupt an opponent's rhythm, it backs the man up and often stuns him. Wlad has a magnificent straight right and right cross delivered with accuracy and power. He also hooks off a left jab better than most heavys could dream of doing. Wlad's physical tools, his incredible discipline outside of the ring and a great trainer make him a tough contest for all but the truly past greats that occupy top 5 like Joe Louis and Ali.

Right now, I have Wlad just inside the top 10 at about #9 or #10.

And if he stays active for another four or five years and keeps on defeating the best in the division, he'll definitely deserve to be ranked in the top five.

This fall he had trouble finding a qualified contender to fight, but during the next few years there will be plenty of opponents to choose from such as Arreola, Dimitrenko, Povetkin, Mitchell, Helenius, Fury, Wilder and Boytsov.

You're a good poster. I like how you won't let anybody twist your words and keep getting the discussion back on point. It's hard to argue with a guy who states the facts in favor of his position and won't allow fellow posters to cloud the issue and bring up all kinds of nonsense. These debating skills are a pleasure to see and unfortunately are rarely seen these days of raw emotion and petty insult trading.

I'd put him #15-20; but who knows where he will end up? One more humiliating loss and he drops, a few more dominant wins and he climbs. But we won't really get true perspective until after he has retired.

Boxers usually get more credit after they have retired and their whole career can be put into context.
