Oh where oh where could they be? Let me think...train my butt off and get my head pounded in for 10mil or play in the NFL for 5 times that and train half as hard...no brainer:admin
They all have names that resemble hockey players... Just like any other sport, when access is granted to the majority of the world, the landscape changes.
You have to admit that a LOT of hit has to do with pro sports geared towards big guys paying so much money. There's a reason the difference is much more stark in the heavier weight classes, and it's not only because guys are big in Eastern Europe.
There have been lots of threads like this recently. It's a tired, depressing subject. Lets just concentrate on the positives we have in the sport.
why have 5,000,000 light welters to light heavys a year been playing football instead of taking up boxing for the last 100 years
As dan-b put it, it's a sad topic. I think the Heavyweight division is just terrible, low skill level, most are fat, injury prone, lack a personality, and the top fighters, fight maybe twice a year if were lucky, no wonder why most Boxing analysts consider the Heavyweight division a joke and dead since Lewis' departure in 03.
There's over 12,000 division 1 college football players every single year. Less than 3 percent ever make it to te NFL. Of those three percent, only a fraction of that will last more than 3 years. So, a better question might be...why aren't they just joining boxing later since 22-23 isn't too old for a heavyweight?
Bull****. NFL and NBA have been around forever. Real reason. Americans have gotten FAT, weak and lazy. Cant hang with hungrier eastern euros.
atsch :nut Go to some US boxing gyms, there's hardly any big guys in it because boxing isn't viewed as cool anymore. I guarentee that 99 percent of high school kids would say the HW champ is Tyson, Holyfield, or maybe the most knowledgable say Lennox Lewis.
