If that was the case, why did the number 1 guy in Wlad go life and death with him in septemeber of 05? Peter is not the most skilled fighter out there, but he does have a good chin, extremely heavy hands, and alot of toughness. Alot of what Wlad doesnt have, Peter got, and alot of what Wlad has, Peter dont got. I think a rematch would be very interesting to see.
Why do they want to play American Football anyway? They are never going to be famous, (certainly not internationally anyway, dont know about in the States) they will make less money standing in that offensive line than they could as a good heavyweight and correct me if I am wrong but isnt the average NFL career about 4 years? Broken necks and spinal injuries are also quite commonplace I am led to believe and problems with general health in later life.
Do you live in the US? Football is huge here, absolutely NO ONE talks about boxing and it gets ZERO coverage. If someone wants to join a fighting sport, they usually join UFC, or some MMA thing atsch
Hbo and americans have been saying the heavy division sucks because we have no good heavy's. When there is good american heavys they step up and get beat by the European fighters.
Thats very true, I dont know anyone that boxes around my way, I do know 3 guys that fight in some MMA league, where they travel to Ohio for fights. I even watched a long time boxing gym I used to be a part of, get shut down and replaced by a fight league a few monthes later, it really was a wake up for me and I knew things have changed for the worst.:verysad
Tony Thompson, Eddie Chambers who are the best we have at the moment are not good heavyweights. Even if they were just fighting each other and there were no foreign fighters to expose them you can tell they are pretty mediocre. Calvin Brock who was one of our best was a freaking tap dancer, and Thompson is/was a janitor.
I live in the UK so I dont really get how big it is over there but surely even with my limited knowledge its the QB's and wide receivers who get all the attention no? I know Boxing aint exactly a walk in the park but the injuries in NFL seem quite extreme. The Dolphins came over to play a game at Wembley recently and I remember one of the commentators saying one of the reasons why they were so bad was because thay had lost about six players with broken necks!!!!
Naw, if you are big over here EVERYONE makes you play football. The big guys that in the old days would get turned to boxing are playing D End, Fullback etc.
Bump...I'm genuinely interested to hear a response to this. The numbers I posted aren't bull****- so how can every HW prospect be playing in the NFL if 97% of college players never make it there and even fewer make it more than 1-2 years?
Because by the time they're done with football they're in there early to mid twentees and have a college degree :huh
Exactly. It's a sad old argument that all the unknown talent at HW is playing Football.................how does catching a pass or blocking for a running play automatically give someone the ability to take or throw a punch?
