That's ridiculous. I think Linebackers, Running Backs & Tight Ends make the best boxers.................listen to how ridiculous that sounds. :deal

The whole reason I like Boxing better than Football is that it's a one on one sport. No matter who's in your entourage or who trains you or spars w/ you, a fighter enters the ring alone to face the test.

It's entirely different than "team sports" like Football, Baseball, or Basketball, Soccer or Hockey for that matter.

If you can't see that obvious fact than you aren't looking hard enough.

It certainly wouldn't hurt if a few American prospects could get themselves in decent shape. Arreola isn't exactly a cut fighter is he?

When did I say they were the same sport? No, but if a guy like Strahan, Julius Peppers, Ray Lewis boxed at a young age rather than play football chances are they'd be very, very good. Of course many of these guys wouldn't have the chin needed, but making it big in football takes a good deal of dedication and toughness. Theres NO DOUBT that boxing has a fraction of the popularity in the US as it did a few decades ago, and saying that the best athletes and best potential HWs aren't for the most part playing football or a different sport is absurd.

    I disagree 100%.

Who would make a better HW fighter in your opinion, Warren Moon or Jumbo Elliott? How about Emmit Smith or Barry Sanders? Troy Aikman, Randall Cunningham or Tom Brady?

If you follow graduation rates, plenty of 20-22 year olds who play college football never graduate- only 2 out of every 3 Division 1 football players graduates- and that's not counting those who get bogus degrees. That leaves a thousand athletes a year without a college degree and who aren't NFL guys.

Football does tap into the talent pool to an extent- but it gets scapegoated far too much for the lack of US heavyweights.

Are some of you trying to tell me that ALL of the athletic big men in the US are playing in the NFL? How many ****ing teams does this league have?

With Barry Sanders natural athletic ability though he would of been an amazing fighter to watch. Emmitt was a tough, short fighter who could of been a Tysonish fighter. Anyway, QBs are for the most parts girls who wouldn't be good boxers.

Imagine a guy like Julius Peppers/Ray Lewis if he boxed rather than play football :yikes

No not all of the athletic big men but even the athletic ones that don't make it to the pros still go to college to play. And when they graduate in their mid twentees with a college degree their not going to decide to go into boxing when they have a education to fall back onto.
