After Kelly Pavlik came out of virtually nowhere to stop Taylor once, and then win by a relatively comfortable decision in a rematch, Pavlik was arguably the most popular active fight on the boards. This thread isn't designed to poke fun at him or his fans, but I'm seriously wondering if it all happened in my head. Since his loss to Hopkins, I barely hear a word about him in the General Forum, it's almost like he doesn't exist. What's the deal? Are the Pavlik fans no longer fans because they prefer winners, or are you just waiting for Pavlik to work himself back into the picture..even if he still the Middleweight champ?
I was thinking the same thing. Maybe they are more realistic about his status in the p4p table. He should never have been considered to 10 p4p at any point in his career.
they shouldnt have been there in the first place. there were plenty of naysayers that said that jermaine got gift decisions in every title fight he had. so him being beat shouldve been expected according to them. so to pump a man up for beating someone who was considered HBO's hypetrain should not have been as big a feat as it was. but in all honesty i think it was a hell of a win for him but since he was outslicked they seem to have run away to find some other undefeated fighter. Kelly is good and deserves his accolades and Rubio hopefully will be crushed by him. Cotto had a nice little falling out even though not as bad as kelly's but these fair weather boxing fans leave their "favorite" fighters as soon as they lose.
A lot of them maybe are not real fan's of his cause you dont abandon a fighter because he lost...I have been a Margo fan for year's and when he lost to Santos and William's i didn't abandon him even if he lost to Mosley in his upcoming fight i will still be a fan of him.
I have noticed that as well. It's like he's literally become a ghost (no pun intended). If he wins his next fight, all these wannabe boxing fans will come back hyping him up. The guy NEEDS to fight Arthur Abraham no matter what. That's a fight boxing truly needs, regardless of the fact that Abraham would destroy him.
I don't know where the rest of you stand on this, but so-called fans who leave a fighter after their first professional loss is pathetic.
i like pavlik. he is a relentless fighter. his first fight with taylor made me a fan. was not that surprised that he lost to bhop but surprised that it was so easy. he would do good in the future i guess and the bhop fight should be a learning experience.
