c'mon man, stop making excuses. I'm a massive Shogun fan but Jones is just the better fighter and is just too big for Shogun.

Here is how it works apparently-

    Did Shogun win?

    No. Unhealthy/Unmotivated Shogun

    Yes. Normal Shogun turned up.

There is only one Shogun and he is a very inconsistent fighter, obviously this is partially to do with his very serious knee surgery but you can't keep using that as an excuse. He looked great in the fight before that against Machida.

Also he looked poor against Griffin in their first fight and that was before the surgery.

It really is ridiculous the way a lot of MMA fans make excuses for their favourite fighters losing. Same thing with BJ Penn.

Not making excuses just stating facts. If bones met this version of shogun, he would have been KTFO overeem style:thumbsup

If that helps you deal with the loss then that's alright :thumbsup

However, there is no actual way of knowing that. Maybe he would but If you put the Pride Shogun in with Jones I think you get the same result, he's just too big for Shogun.

i dont think we have seen the best of Shogun in the UFC as of yet.

his cardio in nearly every fight has been rubbish to say the least. he would have smashed Hendo only for his crap cardio, and the same for his first with Forrest and the rematch he had here in Dublin with Mark Coleman.

as much as i like Shogun. i dont know if even a perfectly prepared Shogun could beat Jones. jones is just too bloody big. I dont know how the hell he makes 205, but fair play to him for doing it

No. We have. I don't understand the insistence of UFC fans who ride Shoguns dick like he's ever going to produce the same type of fights he did in PRIDE. His hey day is over.

Shogun met a bigger badder dog in Bones Jones. Will be interesting to see what happens if he can ever secure a rematch.

you could be right. i wont argue with that.

but his cardio has been shite since he's been in the UFC.

i always hate when guys run their own training camps. when you're the boss, who tells you you're doing ****?

He'd loose even more brain cells. Jones would destroy him EVERY day of the week. Even under PRIDE rules vs a prime Shogun id probably favour Jones. Stylistically Jones presents a lot of problems for Rua that were compounded by the cage, the unified rules and Shogun's poor form thanks to multiple surgery's.

Contrary to popular opinion Shoguns CV has always been average. Don't know why so many think he's a cardio machine when he's never been that.
