Lol. Guilty as soon, handed in his BBBofC licence in order to avoid a hearing/investigation. He's probably hiding in whichever country will give him a boxing licence first.
This is the ridiculous loophole in boxing. If I get caught driving drunk in Britain can I just tear up my license and avoid any penalty? Then show up next week with a French license and a fake mustache and carry on like nothing happened? What other area of life works like this?
The sport lacks a global governing body. Take football. Ronaldo was issued a two-game ban for knocking a phone from the hand of a fan when leaving the stadium (bringing the game into disrepute was the charge, I think) but he's played his last game in the English Premier League and will move to another league in another country. That two-game ban will still need to be served whichever country he plays in because FIFA's global governance says so. Boxing needs something with overarching global governance. Fat chance though - money talks...
If he went and started from the bottom in Russia that's one thing, but after a few international fights he's going to come back and box in Britain on an American license! That's how it works now I guess? Shouldn't the British Boxing Board of Control be able to control who boxes in Britain all by themselves?
